Sunday Inspiration for Autumn: Reawakening

autumn-rocks

Smell the fallen leaves as they are decaying – it is your body.

Feel the raindrops on your skin – it is your blood.

Feel the hardness of stone and the softness of the breeze – it is your breath.

Become soft like the wind and speak to the leaves as they fall, releasing and forgiving and renewing in the whole.

Flow with the cycle of life for life is your tissue that binds it all together as one dream.

Then, when you close your eyes, return to Source and rest in Love.

The great central sun shall rise in the morning, re-awakening you to life.

The Kennedy Assasination and the US chart

Kennedy assassination astrologyUnless you’ve been asleep all day you will know that today marked the 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy.  I have been a student of conspiracy theory since the 1980s, and there is a fantastic book called that you must read if you want to discover all of the details in all of their suspicious glory.

The assassination on November 22, 1963 took place just as Uranus and Pluto were beginning their conjunction cycle that would eventually bring about the social upheaval and change that we now call “the sixties.”  The Vertex, the point of fate, was sandwiched between Uranus and Pluto, joining them together by association to create an event that would forever change the course of history. At the time Saturn (governmental structures) was squared by Neptune (delusion and deception), ensuring that a confusing veil would be cast over the entire event making it one of the great mysteries of our time.

I discovered something else that is quite significant – during the few years before the assassination, Pluto and the South Node were coming into alignment in the progressed chart of the United States.  Humans have charts that progress over time, and so do nations and anything that has a beginning at a specific moment in time.  (You might be interested in this long article about the history of the US progressed Sun.)

Pluto represents the force of destruction and decay that is followed by regeneration and new birth, and the South Node is a point in the passage of the Moon that represents the past, a karmic inheritance.  When Pluto and the South Node collide, there is often a debt that comes due, or a dramatic […]

Mars in Libra December 2013: What can we expect?

Mars in LibraYou will be reading lots of stuff in the astrological news about the dangers of Mars in Libra as it collides with the Uranus/Pluto square (see the sidebar for more information about this cycle).  I wrote a bit about this last week and felt after reading the comments that it’s probably a good idea to talk more about Mars moving into Libra in early December and what that will mean for the Uranus/Pluto cycle and the tension that many of us have been experiencing.

There’s no denying that Uranus/Pluto cycles are periods of great change, and we have been going through great astrological changes ever since 2008 when Pluto entered Capricorn, a 20-year shift of energy that created contraction and destruction of any foundation that did not have a firm footing.  Then along comes Uranus in 2011 and 2012, destabilizing and creating resistance and radical change.  This is big stuff and was bound to have an impact.

It is important to understand that the Universe is continually striving for balance.  If we pay attention we can see this at work in our personal lives.  For example, the person who hates their job but is afraid to leave it.  Finally they are fired and while they may see this as the worst thing that could ever happen to them, ultimately it can be a liberation to free them from a negative situation. Clients will tell me “Oh, that was a terrible time” but upon further investigation it becomes clear that while very disruptive events occurred, and it was an uncomfortable time, these events ultimately created change that had positive impacts for the rest of that person’s life.

The archetype of Mars is the “God of War.”  This gives […]

A crescendo of violence leads to hopeful transition

climacticOn November 1st, Uranus and Pluto clashed in the sky for the fourth  of seven total phases that will continue into 2015 (see more about this cycle in the sidebar if this is new to you).  On November 3rd there was a full moon eclipse in Scorpio, the sign of intensity and passion.  This was an intense week, full of emotion and inner conflict.  For some, that inner conflict spilled out into acts of violence.

During that week there was a noticeable increase in violent acts.  For example, in Chicago five people were murdered during the first three days of November, despite a declining murder rate in that city.   cried “How to make sense of four families slain in four days?”  after four entire families in four different states were killed between the 1st and the 5th of November.  One disturbed young man opened fire in a mall in Paramus, killing only himself, and another went on a rampage at LAX airport, killing two TSA officers. Three people were killed when a gambling operation at a Detroit barbershop went sour.

These things happen all the time, but intense planetary configurations such as the combination of events at the beginning of November bring our own inner conflicts and stress to a peak that often spills out into the outer world. When this is combined with the global stress of economic and political disorder such as we are seeing today, the result can be a cocktail of violence and disturbance.

The good news is that the planets are settling down and we are heading into a rest period.  No eclipses, no stressful planetary alignments for the next few months means that we can assimilate […]

Scorpio New Moon Eclipse, November 3 2013

from deviantART

This  New Moon in Scorpio is also a Solar Eclipse. This is a particularly powerful Scorpionic event because we have four planets (Mercury, Sun, Moon and Saturn) tightly aligned within six degrees of the sign of passion and intensity. This is a Scorpionic time in any case – we are approaching the midpoint of the Scorpio solar cycle which is associated with the ancient Celtic cross-quarter festival of Samhain, and under Scorpio’s influence we are called to fearlessly dive deep into the unconscious to uncover both the treasures and horrors that lie hidden in the underworld of the senses. With an eclipse in Scorpio at the New Moon, there may be an unmasking of a secret that is holding us back – keeping us from awakening to the new reality that is calling us. The North Node is tightly sandwiched between the Sun and Mercury, giving this a more powerful eclipse effect than some others we have had recently and strengthening the force for awakening that is at work under Uranus and Pluto. The New Moon conjoins Saturn which suggests a time for solitary process and experience and perhaps the need to ground the shamanic experience of the eclipse into something practical that will build something for the future. A trine from Mars to Pluto in earth signs is supportive of that need to ground the experience and helps to stabilize and encourage us in our journey; however, Mars is just moving away from an opposition to Chiron which may enhance our emotional sensitivity. Emotions, passions, feelings, secrets – all of these have the potential to be unmasked today as the eclipse shields the Sun’s light and empowers the lunar flow of feelings […]
