How the Christ surpassed Yahweh at the dawn of the Piscean age

yahweh Because the earth orbits at a slight tilt, and the tilt of the orbit changes over time, the celestial equator is always moving and the vernal equinox is always moving along the ecliptic, the apparent path of the Sun around the Earth from our perspective.  We call this the “Precession of the Equinoxes,” and that is what we mean when we talk about the Age of Aquarius, the Age of Pisces, etc.

There is no accepted timeline for the transition from one Great Age to another.  The Great Year is approximately 26,000 years and each Age spans approximately 2160 years. However, because cultural changes mark the shift between ages it becomes somewhat easier to define these transitions.

Yahweh, the god of the ancient Hebrews, was a warrior god- Moses says so right in Exodus in the Bible:  “The Lord is a warrior/man of war.”  In Isaiah 42:13 we find this exclamation: “The LORD will march out like a champion, like a warrior he will stir up his zeal; with a shout he will raise the battle cry and will triumph over his enemies.”

There is a great deal of confusion in the Bible over the name of God – both El and YHWH (Yahweh) are used interchangeably.  However, that El was a senior god in Canaan: a beneficent god who presided over creation and ruled over the more junior warrior gods such as Baal and Astarte.  The use of the plural for god in the Bible – “Elohim” – could refer to the family of Canaanite gods that included not only Baal and Astarte but also El’s consort Athirat.  There is some evidence that El and Yahweh actually battled for control over the area which perhaps explains […]

The Cancerian Christmas Full Moon of 2015

Cancer Full Moon 2015 Nothing says family and friends like the astrological sign of Cancer, and the December 25th Cancer Full Moon brings an infusion of lunar energy to open the heart and encourage connections between humans.  Cancer after all is ruled by the Moon – the keeper of our secrets, the harbinger of our fears.  The Moon illuminates the darkness and sometimes reveals the shadows we would often rather not see, but also stimulates the imagination and reveals the depths of feeling that lie deep within.

The Full Moon is the peak of the lunar cycle and Cancer is the Moon’s own sign, so all of the characteristics represented by the Moon are operating here.  The ebb and flow of emotions, the desire to nurture others, our need to feel secure and safe, the legacy of our maternal line and our sense of personal history – these are all prominently featured in this Full Moon.

The Moon is also tied closely to the archetype of the nurturing mother – the sense of being safe and secure in a loving mother’s arms – so security and safety are critical experiences in the Cancerian realm.  Under the double whammy of the Cancer Full Moon we especially seek to surround ourselves with people that will provide that emotional nourishment and sense of sanctuary that we long for.

The intuition and imagination of the Full Moon is heightened now with a harmonious trine to Neptune, the planet which inspires us to transcend ordinary reality and commune directly with the divine.  Divine creativity, divine inspiration, divine peace – these majestic experiences are available to us now.  Neptune forms a sextile to the […]

Happy Winter Solstice holiday!

Winter Solstice 2015

It’s only recently, when Pluto (the destroyer of paradigms) moved through Sagittarius (the sign of shared belief and theology, among other things such as travel, world culture, etc.) that a healthy skepticism over religious dogma has moved into the mainstream.  Since that time it has become easier to find scholarly articles about the origin of the Christmas holiday that celebrates the supposed birth of Jesus on December 25th.  In fact, in 2012 questioned the fact of Jesus’s birthday on the 25th in the year zero.

Pope Benedict makes some controversial statements in the book. He writes of how the Gospel of Matthew claims that Jesus was born when Herod the Great ruled in Judea. However, given that Herod died in 4 B.C., Jesus must have been born earlier than Exiguus originally documented. Arguments surrounding Jesus’ exact date of birth have confounded scholars for centuries. Even the Gospel of Luke contends that the birth took place when Quirinius was governor of Syria in A.D. 6.

Regardless of the date of the actual birth of Jesus, the holiday that we now call Christmas wasn’t even celebrated on December 25th until 336 c.e. and that date was formally established a few years later by Pope Julius I.  This date is nine months after the Anunciation, the announcement by the Angel Gabriel of the coming birth of Jesus, which is commonly celebrated on March 25th.  March 25th is, of course, very near the Vernal Equinox.  December 25th is very near the Winter Solstice.

The solstices and equinoxes (cardinal points) have an important correlation to the tropical Zodiac – they mark the date on which the Sun moves into the each of […]

Sinead O’Connor and the Chiron/Pluto Cry for Help

9781720752_17ac4105b6_zSinead O’Connor, the Irish singer with a long history of controversy and dramatic life events, was recently in the news after a post on her Facebook page claimed that she had taken an overdose and was in an unnamed hotel.  She was eventually found and was not harmed, but her apparent mental illness has become a topic of discussion in the entertainment news circles.

Between 1962 and 1968 or so, Uranus (radical behavior) and Pluto (destruction and rebirth) were aligned in a conjunction in the sky, the last time these two planets were locked in a dance that deconstructed and transformed the status quo.  Everyone born during this period has this urge for radical reconstruction locked into their astrological chart, and for much of that time Chiron, the planet of wounding and healing, formed a stressful opposition to Uranus and Pluto.

People born with a strong Chiron aspect in their chart like this tend to come into this incarnation already wounded – they are more emotionally sensitive and often in some degree of psycho-emotional distress.  The evolutionary purpose of this woundedness is to clear and release these painful emotions so that awareness and wisdom can take their place but not everyone is able to understand their distress from this higher perspective.  I call the Chiron/Pluto combination the aspect of “soul surgery” – the core wound generally requires some focused effort in order to be fully released so that the soul may be liberated and free.

To make matters more complicated, between 1967 and 1968 the planet Saturn aligned with Chiron – the “Celestial Mentor” (Saturn) adding another layer of challenge to the already painful dynamic. This intense Chiron/Saturn opposition to Uranus/Pluto formation figures prominently in the chart of Sinead O’Connor (born 12/8/1966).

It’s somewhat of a […]

Pluto opposes the US Sun and a mass shooting every day

Cartoon from PiedType

One of the things I have used this blog for is to profile the psychology of criminals from an astrological viewpoint.  In the past there were one or two mass shootings in a year that warranted an attempt to try to understand what goes on in the human  mind to inspire such horrific behavior.  In 2015, with , this task has become impossible.

Back in June when a screwed up teenager shot up a church in Charleston I wrote “The real tragedy is that these events are becoming so commonplace that there is barely time to profile so many criminals and murderers, and at this point it becomes evident that the illness is not just in the individual, but also in the society that feeds the illness of the individual and causes it to erupt into the collective conscious experience.”

Also from that article,

Between 2000 and 2006 there were 6.4 mass shootings a year.  Between 2007 and 2013 that number jumped to 16.4 mass shootings a year.  Mother Jones magazine has posted of mass shootings in the US and you can see that in the 1980s there were one or two mass killings a year.  Shootings began to increase in the 1990s to two to three a year, and then we see a drastic increase to five in 1999, the year of the Columbine shootings.  During this time transiting Pluto was crossing the ascendant of the astrological chart for the United States and doing its job of bringing out the darkness of the collective unconscious.
