The astrology of the “Full Flower Moon” in Sagittarius, May 29 2018

full flower moon may 2018This month’s Sagittarius Full Moon asks that we dig deep into our hearts to find our adventurous spirit.   Called the “Flower Moon” because in the northern hemisphere, where these names originated, May is the month where flowers reach their maximum bloom, this May Full Moon inspires us to reach beyond the stars into the great unknown to find our place there.

Zodiacal polarities are opposites, with each sign having something that the other lacks.  Gemini wants to take in every single bit of information without discrimination, just for the sake of learning and gaining experience.  Sagittarius, on the other hand, is imbued with a never ending desire to continually expand one’s knowledge and awareness of the outer world.  As polarities go, the Gemini/Sagittarius polarity is about the most harmonious – both signs seek understanding, but in different ways.

I love the image of the “Flower Moon” for the Sagittarius Full Moon – the flowering of wisdom and innate understanding; expanding our goals and dreams beyond what we thought was possible, the never ending search for meaning and truth.  At the full moon our the power of the heart reaches a peak and our subconscious awareness becomes richer and more easily accessible to the conscious mind.

The astrological dynamics of this Sagittarius Full Moon are heavily weighted towards the earth and water elements.  Earth and water are the “yin” elements, motivating security and emotions but not necessarily the action and expansion that the fire of Sagittarius craves.  However, the Full Moon Ruler (Jupiter) is tied into a lovely Grand Trine in water signs (Venus in Cancer, Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces) which aids in the process of expansion on an emotional level.  When we are […]

Warrior energy and health problems

lokasiwisata.info Mars astrologyThis article was originally published in 2012. I am not certain where this art came from originally, but I found it .

As many of you know, I have a special interest in energy imbalances and health as shown in the birthchart.  Disclaimer:  I have no medical training and any medical information that appears in this blog contains only my own hypothetical beliefs and should not in any way be construed as medical advice. When there is an immune system disorder of some sort, such as Multiple Sclerosis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue symdrome, and other similar ailments I nearly always see what I call a “fire problem” in the chart.

Fire is the element of action and initiation – it creates the drive and ambition that inspires us and stimulates desire and need.  When a chart lacks the fire element, or if there is a strong Mars that is afflicted by a challenging aspect from Neptune, Saturn or Pluto without other supporting factors, the  fire energy is more difficult to express and can back up into energetic blocks in the body.  You can read more about that in this earlier post.

The other day I did a reading for a client who has Multiple Sclerosis.  Her chart showed Mars in Leo – a powerfully expressive Mars that demands attention and enthusiasm – but it was opposed by Neptune, the planet of subjugation and transcendence.  She had no other fire in her chart, and she had a great deal of difficulty expressing her needs (Mars in Leo) or dealing with any feelings of anger when her boundaries were violated.  After her MS diagnosis she found she could use that fact to assert herself more […]

Taurus New Moon May 15th and Uranus in Taurus: Forcing the flower to bloom

Taurus is a sign that loves peace and harmony, and the New Moon in Taurus is an opportunity to find your grounding space, to connect with the earth and the pleasures that are available to humans in a physical body. But challenging Mars aspects at the New Moon will have a disruptive effect. At the very least this Mars influence will help to energize and motivate, but if there is any dissonance in your life it will become apparent during this time.

And speaking of disruption, Uranus enters Taurus just after the New Moon and though it doesn’t actually hit the New Moon directly, the disruption of our equilibrium that the Taurus New Moon seeks to deliver will burst open the seed of transformation that lies within all of us, encouraging us to break out of the ways in which we have become stuck in our attempt to find serenity, and explore new paradigms that expand our reach while enabling us to maintain our equanimity and sense of inner comfort.

This is a tricky balance to maintain, but with Uranus in Taurus for the next seven years it’s a good place to start!

The astrology of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to marry on May 19, 2018 and the royal watchers are abuzz with gossip.  Will it last?  Is she a gold digger?  What about the racists?  Meanwhile Germaine Greer has predicted that Meghan will “bolt” from the marriage, and an assortment of psychics are predicting that the wedding will be postponed, that it won’t happen, that that it won’t last, that they will have three children, etc. etc.

Astrology can give us a window into a relationship and provide hints as to compatibility and durability.  What it cannot do, however, is predict whether two people will stay together.  I have seen couples with perfectly harmonious charts split up because there’s not enough tension to hold the relationship together.  And I have seen couples with very little compatibility who have long-term successful marriages.

All that aside, let’s take a look at Meghan and Harry to see how they are connected and where their difficulties might arise.  You can catch up on Harry’s chart analysis here, and Meghan’s here.

Meghan and Harry’s astrology as individuals

Meghan and Harry are an example of two very different people uniting in a common purpose.  With his Sun Sign in Virgo in a harmonious trine to his Taurus Moon and Capricorn rising (all Earth signs), Harry is at his core an extremely grounded and practical individual.  However, his freewheeling Mars (drive and desires) conjunct Uranus (radical departure from the norm) in Sagittarius, the sign of freedom and adventure adds a radical side to his personality which defies the kind of structure which the earthy element creates.  In the earlier article about Harry quoted above I wrote:

The conflict between this […]

The meaning of Uranus in Taurus, 2018-2026

Uranus in TaurusUranus is one of the three outer planets that represent transformational forces in the astrological pantheon.  Unlike Venus, Mars, Jupiter etc. which all represent an aspect of the personality, the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) inspire us to go beyond the limitations of our personality as signified by the natal chart.

On a personal level, Uranus demands that we find our own path that is our exclusive authentic journey, breaking away from the shackles of the expectations that force us to live a life that is not true for the individual that we know ourselves to be.  On a global level, as Uranus transits through the signs of the zodiac, it shatters paradigms and has the potential to create chaos as it dismantles the established order of things in order to create a new way.  Uranus is the libertarian – the egalitarian, the seeker of freedom and brotherhood among humans.  It’s synchronistic that the French revolution of 1789-1799 occurred just after the discovery of Uranus, with the call of “liberté, egalité, fraternité” – all symbols of the Uranian archetype.

Uranus has been in Aries for the past seven years and you can read more about that here. While in Aries, the sign of aggression, Uranus oversaw the splintering of governments into small bands of revolutionaries and the proliferation of gun violence around the world. Under Venus-ruled Taurus, the force of aggression we have seen over the past seven years is likely to calm down somewhat, but there will be a pulling in and contracting of spending and a corresponding recession. This is not a time for financial speculation or risk taking, at least until we see exactly what kinds of energies we are looking […]
