Gemini New Super Moon May 25th: Sparkly magic and wonder

The Sun has just entered the brilliant sign of Gemini, and now the Moon aligns with the Sun, fusing the solar consciousness with lunar magic at a time when the Moon is closest to Earth – a Super Moon (™ ) and one of a trio of Super New Moons (April, May and June).

Super Moons can exert a more powerful influence than ordinary lunations – on a personal level we may feel this as a burst of emotional energy and intensity.  Globally, Super Moons are associated with an increase in tidal intensity and seismic forces.  Richard calls the Super New Moons “stealth Super Moons” because we don’t see the huge Super Moon in all its glory.

Gemini season tends to speed up time – a firehose of information, thoughts and ideas can be somewhat overwhelming but also exciting and enlightening. Under the influence of Gemini we are more open to new experiences and recreating ourselves by trying on new personas and ways of thinking.  Here we have not only the Sun and Moon in Gemini, but also Mars, the planet of action and initiation.  There are so many choices now – so many attractive options it can be somewhat dizzying.  But an opposition from Saturn, planet of form and structure, will help to ground and contain us.

This New Moon is opposed by the Black Moon Lilith, suggesting that a deep and ancient voice from our past may emerge and demand to be heard.  In addition, a challenging square from Pluto (intensity and transformation) to Venus (relationships) could create some stress in our interpersonal connections or at the very least, intensify these contacts and facilitate their evolution.

Light and airy energies such as […]

The sparkling light of the Aquarius Super Moon, August 10 2014

The Moon is full in Aquarius on August 10th – the second Supermoon (TM Richard Nolle) of the summer.  When the Full Moon is a Supermoon it appears larger than usual in the sky and its influence is more powerful.  Full Moons represent the culmination of our emotional awareness – the peak of insight and intuition and an opening of the heart.

Aquarius is known as the Water Bearer – while Aquarius is an air sign and tends to be rather uncomfortable in the realm of feelings, it acts as the container for the emotions (the water element) to flow through the personality and find a higher expression through insight and intuition.  The element of air represents the intellect, but it is the connection with emotional intelligence (water) that brings true wisdom.  Under the influence of Aquarius we are able to harness the realm of feeling and tether it to reason, enhancing our understanding of the way the world works.

Aquarius is ruled traditionally by Saturn and its modern ruler is Uranus, and both of these planets are active in the chart of this Full Moon (Saturn in Scorpio is in a square to the Sun and Moon, and Uranus in Aries is in a trine to the Sun and sextile to the Moon).  Because of Saturn, we will likely find that an adjustment is required in order to resolve the natural tension between the Leo focus on the individual personality and the Aquarian need to subsume the individual into the collective and create lasting change. Any planetary system involving Saturn requires focus and attention in order to navigate successfully.

The Sun is conjunct Mercury, planet of the mind and intellect, and both […]

Planetary news this week! Virgo Supermoon and astrological forecast February 18-25th, 2019

horoscopesThe planets are pretty earthy right now which can help us to find our feet in the ever-changing unfolding of experiences of life.  Not everyone loves the experience of stability and security and a realm of practicality where every decision matters, but as we cycle through the realms of intellect and thought (air), motivation and desire (fire), emotions and feelings (water) it’s helpful to have that earthy period to allow everything to settle and stabilize.

Mars (drive and motivation) just moved into Taurus last week and will be traveling through that sign until March 31st.  In the security-oriented earthy sign of Taurus, Mars doesn’t like change and since Mercury will be turning retrograde in March, the upcoming weeks will not be the best times for big changes.  In Taurus Mars encourages us to explore the pleasures of  being in a body – sensuality, taste, living in nature, planting and nurturing the seeds of life.

We also have Venus (love and aesthetics) in another earth sign, Capricorn, until March 1st and for much of that time it will be interacting with Saturn, Capricorn’s ruler (a conjunction of Venus to Saturn culminates on the 18th).  Formalizing our relationships, making commitments, spending time alone, saving our money and becoming more practical with finances and saving for the future – all of these trends occur under this planetary combination.  As Venus moves closer to transformational Pluto on the 22nd we are likely to see all human interaction intensify and become more passionate and intense.

Chiron moves back into Aries on the 18th.  Chiron first entered Aries in April of 2018, then retrograded back into Pisces in September. Because of Chiron’s elliptical orbit, it spends more time in Aries than in any other sign (and the second […]

Planetary news this week: Jupiter/Neptune & the Supermoon Eclipse!

Supermoon eclipse.   There is a lot of buzz and excitement around the lunar eclipse on January 20th-21st (EST) because it’s a Supermoon (tm ), meaning the Moon is at perigee, its closest orbit to Earth.  This means the Moon appears larger (because it is larger and lower in the sky, it will appear to be a red color and is therefore called a Blood Moon).  Astrologer Richard Nolle has connected Supermoon events to intensified weather and geological events such as earthquakes and severe storms.  With the Moon having a stronger effect than usual on the Earth, we can be certain that the effect on us as individuals will also be more powerful.  Eclipses are more intense in the areas in which they are visible, and this eclipse will be particularly powerful for those of us in North and South America.

This Super Full Moon is a total eclipse astronomically, because the Moon will be obscured by the Sun, and this eclipse will last for a very long time – nearly an hour, depending upon your location ( for more details about the eclipse at your particular location).  Astrologically, the eclipse is not as powerful because the lunar nodes are in a different sign from the Sun and Moon and therefore not drawing as much power as if they were in the same sign.

With the Sun in Aquarius opposing the Moon in Leo, questions of our own personal journey (Leo) relative to our transpersonal place in the world (Aquarius) will be highlighted.  Three planets in Capricorn (Saturn, Pluto and Mercury) all ground us to the Earth and ensure that we pay attention to business […]
