Aries Full Moon on October 16th: Lock and load!

40171345 - man fire show on the beach ,koh kood ( kood island ) thailandAries is the sign of the warrior – the trailblazer, the adventurer, the lone gunman.  Ruled by Mars, Aries acts through raw instinctual power and primal motivations.  The Moon also rules instinctive behavior and reactions, but through emotion rather than force, so this is not a time when cool heads and rational thought will prevail.

In the Full Moon the Sun is opposite the Moon, with the Earth in the middle.  There is a need for finding balance between two zodiacal opposites, and here we have the Libra Sun seeking balance and harmony opposing the Aries Moon, urging us to find what’s real in our hearts and trust our instincts.  However, Mars is aligned with Pluto now so the aggressive force is made even more powerful.

This is a  (TM Richard Nolle) – the Moon is closer to the Earth than at other times and its influence is more powerful.  The psyche is deeply affected during the Supermoons, especially the Full Moons which tend to have a heightened abundance of emotional power anyway.

We can prepare for this infusion of warrior energy by becoming more aligned with our own warrior nature.  Increasing your physical strength, finding your center of power in the solar plexus, listening to hear where you may be holding anger in your body and finding ways to express that anger and release it – all of these are important tools for getting the most out of this powerful period.

To complicate matters, this Full Moon is aspected by Uranus – planet of radical reaction and revolutionary behavior.  If we are stuck in a pattern, relationship or situation, […]

Pallas and gender issues: The astrology of Stephen Beatty

Click chart to enlarge Click chart to enlarge

Actor Warren Beatty recently addressed his transgender son Stephen for the first time, putting Stephen in the headlines and bringing him to my attention.  For some time now I’ve been writing that the emergence of transgendered persons such as Chaz Bono into a more mainstream presence is connected with the transition into the Aquarian age.

Stephen Ira Beatty was born Kathryn Elizabeth, the eldest daughter of Warren Beatty and Annette Benning.  Stephen Ira came out as trans at the age of 14, which astrologically is the time when transiting SSaturn opposes Saturn in the natal chart and often sets off a sort of identity crisis or challenge.  Stephen Ira has become an active spokesperson for the transgender community and apparently identifies as a man with feminine traits rather than a straight man.  News reports from 2012 suggest that he hesitated before completing the transition surgery because he didn’t want to give up his feminine side.

Beatty’s astrological chart is fascinating.  His Capricorn Sun gives him a desire to work hard and find success, but it is in a tight conjunction to Neptune (blurring the boundaries) which often confuses the identity when aligned with the Sun (Self) and to Uranus (shattering paradigms), the planetary ruler of the Aquarian age.  This Solar conjunction enjoys a harmonious trine from Jupiter (confidence) which no doubt has helped him to traverse the difficult waters of his complicated personal identity.

There is an indication of emotional pain in a stressful oppoStephen Beattysition between Saturn (tests and challenges) to Chiron (wounding and healing) that denotes an individual with a more intense level of emotional wounds that others […]

Sunday Inspiration: Pluto and the Force of Will

Over the next 10 days or so we will see Mars align with Pluto, forming an alliance that could have a strong effect in our personal lives as well as in the world at large.

Mars is often thought of as the planet of war, anger and aggression and all of these qualities are a part of the Mars archetype.  But Mars also represents the individual Will – the power that we all possess to create an intention followed by the initiation of an action.  When we have a desire to make something happen in our lives, that is our Will at work.

Pluto is usually defined as the planet of death and rebirth, or as I like to call it, the planet of destruction and regeneration.  Under the auspices of Pluto we often find that the forces of the subconscious become more powerful and relentless and that aspects of our lives are forever changed.  Pluto represents a force that acts beyond our control, and to me this force manifests as the Will of the Higher self.

When Mars and Pluto collide it can be with a deadly force of destructive rage and anger, or it can be with a conscious intention to focus the powerful energy to achieve a goal.  This after all is the force of Magick – the bending of matter in the earthly realm through the force of Will.  Under a Mars/Pluto conjunction this can only be done effectively when the individual Will (Mars) is acting in harmony with the Higher Self (Pluto).

This can be a powerful time of great reward if we utilize mindfulness and attention and infuse intention into our reactions.

The US has an illness, and this election is the symptom

An explicit recording of Donald Trump’s misogynistic sexual harassment was just released last night, threatening to torpedo the halfhearted support of Trump’s Republican colleagues while creating very little stir among his passionate supporters.

Portions of this article appeared in earlier posts. The Sagittarius ascendant in the US chart reflects the expansive tendency of the American empire which is probably the single thing that will be its undoing.  Like other empires before it, the expansion of the national identity (Sagittarius ascendant) through ideas like “Manifest Destiny” which inspired pioneers to trek across the undeveloped terrain and do battle with the native peoples and Mexicans and Canadians who were already living on the land. . . .

Since Pluto entered the contracting sign of Capricorn, however, the cracks in the foundation have become more evident. Pluto deals with issues of compulsion and use and misuse of power, and in the US chart Pluto lives in the second house of money.  You can read more about that here, but the hunger for money and resources combined with the relentless urge to continually expand the national identity (Sagittarius rising) is not a good combination for a sound economic policy.

Since 2014 Pluto has been no more than two degrees from an exact opposition (stressful aspect) to the Sun in the US chart.  (Geeky astrological detail: because Saturn squares the US Sun, Pluto is also transiting in square to US Saturn which applies even more pressure.) The candidacy of Donald Trump with his openly expressed xenophobia has opened the door to the dark Plutonic realms of the US citizenry.  His campaign […]

All About Favorite Jupiter 2016-2017 brings blessings of beauty and love

All About Favorite JupiterJupiter moved from the detail-oriented mental sign of Virgo into the relationship-oriented sign of Libra on September 9th 2016 and will remain in that sign until October 20th 2017.

Jupiter, the Great Benefactor

Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system – filled with expansive gases and generating twice as much energy as it receives from the Sun, it is a powerful influence that demands attention.  Everything about Jupiter is big.  It has more moons than any other planet in the solar system (60!) including Ganymede, the solar system’s largest moon.  It has the strongest gravity of any solar system planet, and a faster rotational speed.

Jupiter has sufficient mass and power that it was almost a star – just as the astrological Jupiter is in some ways like a second Sun.  We must honor the energy of the Sun in our charts to feel nourished and alive; we must honor the energy of Jupiter to feel whole and to give our lives meaning.  Jupiter is called the “greater benefic” –  inspires confidence and faith, it inspires us to expand the boundaries of our mind to break down limitations and gain greater understanding. It can bring good luck and good fortune and so can Venus, the “lesser benefic” and ruler of Libra, so the next year offers the potential for expansion and great positivity in our lives.

Libra, balance and harmonious connection

Libra is the sign of balance, harmony and justice.  While it is known as the sign of lovers and relationships, that association is not like the water element which promotes emotional connection but more of an intellectual idea.  The Libra focus on relationships asks “How can I […]
