The astrology of Demi Lovato’s “meltdown”

Demi Lovato astrologyDemi Lovato, the young singer/actress who rose to fame as a Disney Star back in 2008  at the age of fifteen, recently left  the Jonas Brothers World Tour to seek treatment for “emotional and physical issues” which evidently include anger management problems. Rumors are swirling around that she has drug and alcohol issues but Lovato’s spokespeople deny this, saying “”Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help.  She is doing just that.”

The gossip press has reported that an altercation with backup dancer Alex Welch in which Lovato punched her former friend was the event that instigated her decision to enter treatment.  Lovato told talk show host Ellen DeGeneris that she was bullied so badly in middle school that she dropped out of the seventh grade and was home schooled instead.  Her suffering was so extreme that she struggled with eating disorders and self-mutilation (cutting) according to an .

Life in the Hollywood spotlight is challenging for many, but these young stars are more vulnerable than most.  Lovato (born August 20, 1992, time unknown) was born at the beginning of the conjunction of Uranus and Neptune, a powerful planetary alignment that is the source of tremendous creativity and innovation, but also suggests a high degree of energetic (as opposed to emotional) sensitivity.

She has the Sun in Leo, the sign that more than any other loves the spotlight and relishes the opportunity to be recognized and admired (unless there are other aspects that create a conflict around this desire for visibility).  She has Mars in Gemini which gives her tremendous versatility and a desire to excel at many different things, and she has a nice conjunction of the two […]

One in ten kids has ADHD

Government health officials report that in the four years between 2003 and 2007.  Researchers suggest that the increase in diagnosis may be due to the fact that children in less affluent homes are now being treated in higher numbers than previously seen.

Among 15-17 year-olds the survey showed a 42% increase.  This is particularly interesting to me because of the correlation between this age group and the Uranus-Neptune conjunction of 1992-1995.  I have long suggested that children born under this influence have brains that do not operate the way other brains do.  The combination of Uranus (electricity and transdimensional communication) with Neptune (the transcendence of the material world) in the natal chart has proven to correlate with exceptional creativity and emotional sensitivity, AND the rebellion and inability to focus that we find with anyone whose natal chart shows a strong Uranian influence.

Over the past seven years or so since Uranus entered the sign of Pisces, the sign that is ruled by Neptune, a phenomenon called “mutual reception” has linked Uranus and Neptune once again since Neptune is in Aquarius which is ruled by Uranus.

Some scientists have suggested that technology is changing the way our brains operate, as I suggested in this earlier article.  In any case, understanding the astrological makeup of our children can be of great assistance when dealing with personalities that are very different than those of previous generations.

I’m not so sure that calling these anomalies “disorders” and treating them with pharmaceuticals is the wisest way to help these children to adjust to the changing world around them.  I personally believe, as do a growing number of transhumanists, that humans are […]

A prayer for peace on Veteran’s Day

Veterans dayThere is little doubt that the United State economy is dependent upon military spending, as shown in a recent study by the University of Alabama at Birmingham.   As is often noted, General and then President Dwight Eisenhower, warned back in 1960 of the dangers of the military-industrial complex in a speech which is eerily as true today as it was fifty years ago:

Throughout America’s adventure in free government, our basic purposes have been to keep the peace; to foster progress in human achievement, and to enhance liberty, dignity and integrity among people and among nations. To strive for less would be unworthy of a free and religious people. Any failure traceable to arrogance, or our lack of comprehension or readiness to sacrifice would inflict upon us grievous hurt both at home and abroad.

Progress toward these noble goals is persistently threatened by the conflict now engulfing the world. It commands our whole attention, absorbs our very beings. We face a hostile ideology — global in scope, atheistic in character, ruthless in purpose, and insidious in method. Unhappily the danger is poses promises to be of indefinite duration. To meet it successfully, there is called for, not so much the emotional and transitory sacrifices of crisis, but rather those which enable us to carry forward steadily, surely, and without complaint the burdens of a prolonged and complex struggle — with liberty the stake. Only thus shall we remain, despite every provocation, on our charted course toward permanent peace and human betterment.

Crises there will continue to be. In meeting them, whether foreign or domestic, great or small, there is a recurring temptation to feel that some spectacular and costly action could become the miraculous solution to […]

Thoughts on Neptune direct

Neptunian fog Image from Templatesfactory.net

I have a bifurcated work life.  (bi·fur·cate (b f r-k t , b -fûr -). To divide into two parts or branches.)

As many of you know, I have a real estate business and I have an astrology practice.  That’s not surprising because I have Gemini rising – the sign of the twins governing the arena of my persona.  I am happiest when I am living in two worlds at once.

The conjunction of Chiron and Neptune has been wandering back and forth over my Midheaven, which is the point of the chart at which we find our place in the world.  When Neptune crossed my Midheaven the first time, along with Chiron at about 26-27 degrees, I decided to quit the real estate business.  With the market tanking anyway, it seemed like the perfect time.  Beliefnet picked up my blog, everything was moving forward in that direction.  Finally I could do astrology full-time.  I had little interest in the kind of left-brain efforts required to run a business, I just wanted to do readings all day long (Neptune) and pursue a path of healing and helping others to heal (Chiron).

Then Chiron and Neptune retrograded, going back over my Midheaven last spring and summer.  Suddenly I didn’t want to do anything but play music.  I cut my reading schedule way back, and continued to enjoy the slow real estate market.  I was living a life of Neptune: meditation, music, yoga, daydreaming (fortunately I have a healthy savings account thanks to Jupiter in Taurus).   My usual workaholic self was nowhere to be found.

Then Neptune and Chiron turned direct, once again within a few days of each other, and just as suddenly I […]

Jupiter/Uranus and “strange sky sightings”

In the news today:

The Pentagon Tuesday said it was trying to determine if a missile was launched Monday off the coast of Southern California and who might have launched it.

Spokesmen for the Navy, Air Force, Defense Department and North American Aerospace Defense Command said they were looking into a video posted on the CBS News website that appears to show a rocket or some other object shooting up into the sky and leaving a large contrail over the Pacific Ocean.

The video was shot by a CBS affiliate KCBS’ helicopter, the station said Tuesday.

“Nobody within the Department of Defense that we’ve reached out to has been able to explain what this contrail is, where it came from,” Pentagon spokesman Col. Dave Lapan said. “So far, we’ve come up empty with any explanation.”

This just one of a series of weird events that have happened in the sky over the past year.  Astrologically, we have had a conjunction of Uranus (ruling the sky, and also strange events) conjunct Jupiter (amplifying those strange events) since April and May of 2010 that has coincided with these weird events which include:

  • UFOs flying over Manhattan that ultimately turned out to be party balloons that had escaped from a private event in October.
  • A home-grown satellite made of an Iphone and a camera attached to a weather balloon was launched into space from Brooklyn in October.
  • In April A was launched from Florida in a mysterious mission that has still not been revealed.
  • A very odd-looking “comet” named Hartley 2 recently photographedlooks more like a vehicle, prompting Richard Hoagland and others to postulate that the comet is an ancient […]
