From the advice column: Why have the past few years been so hard?

astrological adviceQ:

For the past 5 years, my life has had SO many problems – life and health.  Almost as if the Universe keeps saying – “But wait – am throwing THIS in your lifepath – let’s see how you handle this one.”

Financial (bankruptcy in 2013), relationships strains, and a lot of health issues/problems – 5 surgeries in different parts of my body in 5 years and just got thrown another two more that I will have to deal with in the very near future – (the plethora of medical expenses are greatly affecting our finances)

I am a good person – caring, compassionate, helpful and kind; I take care of myself – exercise, eat right and organic, no drinking, drugs and a glass or two of red wine a week –

What is it in my chart that is causing all of this and when will this start easing up?  Or, am I instead of looking at my ‘golden years’ going be be looking at my ‘lead years’?

A:

Although you say that  things have been particularly difficult in the past five years, I suspect that your life has not been easy in general.  Your chart shows an optimistic ascendant and Moon, both in Sagittarius, but difficult Saturn is putting pressure on your Sun, and Pluto (intense transformation) is a part of that dynamic as well.   Saturn and Pluto are the astrological heavyweights, so when they both conflict with the Sun it generally suggests a life where things are difficult and intense, but also very transformative.

Saturn is the apex of a “Yod” – a “finger of fate” aspect in your chart, which echoes the importance of Saturn in the chart.  Saturn is a difficult ally – he puts obstacles […]

Astrological advice column: Where and when to relocate

astrological adviceIf you have a burning question and need astrological advice here’s where to send it.  Preference will be given for questions that will likely help others as well.

Q:
We are in the process of selling our home and getting ready to downsize now that the children have scattered all over the world.

My questions to you are the following;

1. How can we best find a location for our next abode that will map to our astrological charts? We will not have unlimited funds and are looking for a place where our retirement income will go the farthest. We currently have children all over the world. We are resident in Switzerland, but find it too expensive with a limited retirement income. We would like to be within a short travel distance from our children, so the Med area and even Eastern Europe are not impossible with airfare today. We also have many close friends in England and siblings in the US.

2. How can we choose the best time to relocate? When we sell, we have built 6 months into the sales contract, so we will have sufficient time to both clear out and pack up a large building while choosing our next location.

In today’s world in which people can live anywhere, finding just the right place to settle can be a daunting task. The practice of astrology can be helpful in just about every area of life and every human problem, which is why I’ve revived the advice column – to demonstrate its usefulness and effectiveness.

Still, when searching for the best place to make your home, I always encourage my clients not to rely on astrological factors (such as Astrocartography […]

From the advice column: Integrating opposites

Q: I am Capricorn sun with Cancer moon. This is polarity, and yes my life has been full of utter polarity. Homeless one minute and £30,000 in the bank the next. I have looked on the net for advice to people who hold the opposites in their charts, but never found much that was helpful Hold it all together is what you would say. It has made me very strong. The two solstices are very powerful times for me.

A: Most people do have opposites in their chart, so we all must learn at some point or another to integrate the poiarities within ourselves. The important thing to remember about the astrological opposites is that each has what the other lacks. In the case of Cancer and Capricorn, Cancer is concerned with the home and the inner life, Capricorn is concerned with the outer world and career or public life outside the home.

Your Moon is actually in Virgo, but you have Cancer on the ascendant. The issue of the opposition is made more powerful by the fact that your Capricorn Sun sits right on the descendant of the chart, the point of relationships, and opposes your ascendant, the point of personal identity. Plus, Jupiter and Uranus are extremely tightly conjunct in Cancer and sitting right on the ascendant. So the Cancer influence is equally powerful to your Capricorn Sun. The Jupiter and Uranus combination, especially on the ascendant, makes you a unique (Uranus) and positive (Jupiter) person with your own way of doing things, something that can conflict with the Capricorn drive for achievement and the Cancer drive for tribal affiliation, or more simply, the pull between our work life and our family life.

In addition, Chiron is conjunct your Sun and opposes the Jupiter/Uranus combination which reveals […]
