Pluto in Capricorn: AM is Banned in Australia!

Perhaps one of my Australian readers can enlighten me!  The ACMA Secret Censoring Blacklist has included my post onAstrology and the False Identity, according to the website  I’m listed right there along with babesf*%&k and brutalsexpics.

Has Astrological Musings become a victim of Pluto in Capricorn’s desire for more and more Big Brother-type control?  Wikileaks seems to think so:

The Australian communications regulator’s top-secret blacklist of banned websites has been leaked on to the web and paints a harrowing picture of Australia’s forthcoming internet censorship regime. Wikileaks, an anonymous document repository for whistleblowers, obtained the list, which has been seen by this website, and plans to publish it for public consumption on its website imminently. Wikileaks has previously published the blacklists for Thailand, Denmark and Norway. University of Sydney associate professor Bjorn Landfeldt said the leaked list “constitutes a condensed encyclopedia of depravity and potentially very dangerous material”. He said the leaked list would become “the concerned parent’s worst nightmare” as curious children would inevitably seek it out.

But about half of the sites on the list are not related to child porn and include a slew of online poker sites, YouTube links, regular gay and straight porn sites, Wikipedia entries, euthanasia sites, websites of fringe religions such as satanic sites, fetish sites, Christian sites, the website of a tour operator and even a Queensland dentist.

“It seems to me as if just about anything can potentially get on the list,” Landfelt said. The blacklist is maintained by ACMA and provided to makers of internet filtering software that parents can opt to install on their PCs.

However, if the Government proceeds with its mandatory internet filtering scheme, sites on the blacklist will be blocked for all Australians. The Government has flagged plans to expand the blacklist to […]

Shastri said that experts like Rajmani Trigunayat (US), Jean Pierre (Canada) and Colonel Hem Bahadur Karka (Nepal) are also taking part in the symposium.

Astrology and Islam don’t get along (now)

…according to this article in the Saudi Gazette (thanks Elsa):

Belief in astrology and the casting of horoscopes are in clear opposition to the letter and spirit of Islam. It is really the empty soul, which has not tasted real Iman (belief) that seeks out these paths. Essentially these paths, represent a vain attempt to escape Qadr (predistination). The ignorant believe that if they know what is in store for them tomorrow, they can prepare for them today. In that way, they may avoid the bad and ensure the good. Yet, Allah’s messenger was told by Allah to say: ” I possess no power over benefit or hurt to myself except as Allah wills.”

Now I have no desire to bash someone else’s religion, and all scriptures are subject to interpretation.  We know that in the 8th and 9th centuries when sacred knowledge was stifled in the West by the Catholic Church it was the Arabic astrologers who rescued the sacred arts, translating the ancient Greek works into Arabic, and their wisdom, such as the Arabic Parts (including the widely used Part of Fortune), is taught to this very day ..

Astrology is banned by the major religions that seek to put power over individuals into the hands of a priestly class.  As we know, astrology has the potential to help us to recognize personality traits and inner conflicts which limit us and keep us from serving the Divinity of our choice in a fully conscious and present way, not to mention living a life of joy and fulfillment.

lunar cyclesWell, maybe not astrology, but this article about fishing confirms that fish and wildlife respond to the cycles of the Moon:

The quest to determine the best times to hunt and fish is not a recent project. For hundreds of years people that made their living hunting and fishing recognized that there were certain times when wildlife was more abundant. The lives of most Native Americans were completely dependent on knowing the best times to hunt and fish. People who base their existence on the ocean or lakes have long understood that solar and lunar influences help determine the best times to fish.

What is generally known and almost universally accepted is that fish and game are more active at certain times of the day, most noticeably at dawn and dusk. It is also generally agreed that many game species are more active during certain phases of the moon as well as when the moon is in certain positions in the sky each day. All of these influences have an individual effect that can be observed and in some instances measured.

Much of the early research and understanding of solar and lunar influences was pioneered by John Alden Knight. In 1926 Knight began his studies of various influences that affect wildlife activity. This research resulted in his publication of tables that illustrated periods in each day of major activity and minor activity. To substantiate his research and theory, Knight analyzed data for over 200 record catches of fish. His analysis concluded that 90% of the catches were made while in the effect of the new moon and while in a “solunar period”.
