The TomKat Nuptials

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have set their wedding date for November 18. Astrologers at report that if they marry on this day they are doomed because the Moon is “void of course” that day. I myself have some questions about the durability of this relationship but it has nothing to do with the Moon and its course.

The Moon is said to be void of course after it makes its last aspect to another planet before moving into the next zodiac sign, and some believe that during these periods people are less focused and unable to make good judgements. Some live their life by the moon tables, refusing to participate in any activity during the void moon. I have not found this to be so in real life; moreoever, this kind of fear-based thinking simply perpetuates the notion that we have no control over what happens in our own lives.

TMZ goes on to say that “Of course, the other planets involved — Venus, Saturn, Mars, and Neptune, as well as the Sun — don’t spectacularly align for the couple; with foreboding, hardship and destruction the dominant themes of the planetary tea leaves.” I completely disagree. Venus, the goddess of love, will have entered Sagittarius the day before and is therefore beyond reach of a “bad” aspect to Saturn that could put a crimp on the day’s socializing. In addition, Venus will be conjunct Jupiter, the god of abundance and possibilities, and Venus will be exactly trine Tom Cruise’s Moon that day, expanding and opening his heart. These are very positive aspects for a wedding. Tom has some anger issues amanating from a natal square of Uranus (rebellion) to Mars (aggression) and on […]

Keith Urban and the Chiron/Uranus opposition

Keith Urban yesterday checked himself into rehab, canceling his appearance at the ARIA awards concert and much of his upcoming tour. Urban has a well-documented history of battling addictions, and if tabloid reports can be believed his marriage to Nicole Kidman has been under stress since tying the knot back in June. The National Enquirer reports that the pair are desperately trying to become pregnant and have sought fertility treatment. Other gossip rags reported last summer that Nicole became furious that Keith was still friends with his ex Niki Taylor. Rumors are rampant that Keith never really got over the relationship with Niki, and the timing of the rehab relapse just ten days after Niki Taylor announced her engagement are an interesting coincidence.

Keith is a Scorpio and his Mercury and Neptune are also in Scorpio. Scorpios are passionate about everything they do, and because Scorpio is a fixed sign their natures tend to be more entrenched and unflexible. Keith has Mars in Capricorn, the sign of material success. He is driven (Mars) to achieve (Capricorn), and his Mars is both trined by Jupiter, expanding his sense of possibility, and squared by Saturn, causing frustration as Saturn puts the brakes on that drive.

To make things more complicated for him, Saturn in his chart is retrograde (appearing to move backwards) and the negative voice of Saturn is turned inwards in self-critical thinking. Because so much of a man’s self-image is tied up in his work, this that Keith puts on himself to achieve success is going to color any relationship that he is in. Keith had a spell of alcohol and cocaine addiction while he was climbing […]

Owen Wilson’s relationship issues

OwenYou can tell Owen Wilson is unusual the first time you see him in a film. Shaggy hair, crooked nose: he doesn’t look like your everyday film star. And even though the parts he plays are typically the sophomoric doofus, his presence lingers and suggests a deeper and more complex character lies beneath. His astrological chart suggests that the same is true for Wilson himself. Recent gossip reports have suggested that Kate Hudson has left her husband for a romance with Owen Wilson, so I looked into their charts for the National Ledger entertainment column.

Owen Wilson has the Sun in Scorpio, along with three other planets (Neptune, Mercury and the Moon), giving him an exceptionally strong intensity and passion in everything he does. Scorpio is a fiery water sign that is anchored in the realm of the emotional underworld; the dark and deep underbelly of our feelings that others may fear to witness. There is a great deal of courage in the Scorpio personality, since they are the ones willing to face their inner demons and become transformed by them. This doesn’t sound like the Owen Wilson that we see in films, but this is due to the fact that it is actually the sign that is rising in the chart, the ascendant or rising sign, that describes the outward personality. The rising sign is determined by the time of birth, and this is rarely available for celebrities so all we can do is make a guess, and in Wilson’s case I would guess his rising sign to be something fiery such as Leo or Sagittarius. Wilson himself has said that he is surprised he ended […]

The End of Tony Blair

With Gemini rising (an appearance of flexibility and adaptability) and a twelfth house Sun (showing an individual who prefers his real agenda to remain hidden), it’s no wonder that Tony Blair has been under criticism throughout his career for dishonesty, excessive “spin” and a lack of integrity in his lifestyle choices. The appellation “Tony Blur” that has often been given to him expresses the confusion and delusion that often results when the Sun finds itself in the twelfth house of that which is hidden. (See for birthchart.)

In Blair’s college days he modeled himself after Mick Jagger, and his first career was as a would-be rock promoter. Giving that up for law studies at Oxford, he played guitar in a rock band. However, soon after beginning his law studies he announced to friends his desire to become prime minister.

Blair joined the Labour party soon after graduation from Oxford. He tried unsuccessfully for a couple of seats in local elections but he was able to gain a footing in the Labour party. At this time he described himself as a Socialist, yet he sent his children to a private school that was criticized for its elitist policies. There has been a disconnect between many of Tony Blair’s professed ideals and the programs which he has worked to implement in Britain. Still, he was one of the most popular prime ministers in the history of Britain, winning an unprecedented third term. His government has overseen a period of economic growth and lowered unemployment as well as a higher standard of living. Yet his unholy alliance with George W. Bush in the pursuit of war in Iraq has cost him his political career.

Tony Blair’s birthchart shows that he has a Taurus Sun in the twelfth house: stubborn and […]

Ann Coulter’s Poisonous Rage

has a wonderful expression: resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. If Ann Coulter, conservative right wing so-called pundit, absorbs even a fraction of the poison she spews out, I fear for her health.

Coulter has long been considered the bitch goddess of the right. Six feet tall, with long bleached blonde hair and even longer legs, she refers to herself as a polemicist and has frankly admitted her love of “stirring the pot.” She was fired from USA Today in 2004 for an article on the Democratic convention, “Here at the Spawn of Satan convention in Boston”, and referred to some (unspecified) female attendees as “corn-fed, no make-up, natural fiber, no-bra needing, sandal-wearing, hirsute, somewhat fragrant hippie chick pie wagons.” And that was before she became really nasty.

Now she is on talk shows promoting her new book Godless: the Church of Liberalism, and at first even her supporters are calling her hysterical and unhinged. On the Today show, she described the 9/11 widows,

These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzis. I’ve never seen people enjoying their husbands’ death so much. These self-obsessed women seem genuinely unaware that 9-11 was an attack on our nation and acted as if the terrorist attack only happened to them. They believe the entire country was required to marinate in their exquisite personal agony. Apparently, denouncing Bush was part of the closure process.

After the initial shock of her words, her supporters are slowly coming out to defend her, saying basically that she has the nerve to say what others fear to.

With Ann back in the news, I took a look at her […]
