Back in early 2011 the Arab Spring began in Egypt with the resignation of Hosni Mubarak following weeks of protests during which transiting Uranus was completing its passage through Pisces and making the final square aspect to the Sun in the chart for Egypt as I wrote in this earlier article. One chart factor that I did not include in my earlier research was that the Egyptian progressed Sun and Pluto were also aligned at that time, facilitating the complete destruction and regeneration of a new identity for the nation. Over the past few days as the Sun translated the Uranus/Pluto dynamic by aspecting first Pluto and then Uranus, linking the two together to increase the force of their pressure for revolutionary (Uranus) transformation (Pluto), the first duly elected president, Mohamed Morsi, was ousted by the Egyptian military. With Mercury retrograde and communication not going altogether as it should, there is some dispute as to whether or not he has been ousted. He claims he is still in power, as of this writing the military claims that they have taken over. The Full Moon on June 23rd was exactly opposite Mars in the Egyptian national chart and appears to have inflamed the military (governed by Mars) to take action. Most disturbing are reports of gang rapes among the protests in Tahrir Square that are reflected in the transit of the Black Moon Lilith (sexual assault and feminine rage) over the Sun (national identity) in the Egyptian national chart. The BML was tied in with the Full Moon chart that served as the trigger for these events, and it’s not surprising that women’s issues are coming to the surface now. The Black Moon Lilith conjoins the Moon in the Egyptian chart (which dates from […]
Not since last year’s exposure by Julian Assange and Wikileaks of classified documents has there been such a dramatic exposure of secret spying as the current scandal involving Edward Snowden, the young man who has blown the whistle on the surveillance of the National Security Agency on ordinary Americans and revealed the details of the PRISM program to the international press. Snowden had traveled to Hong Kong but on June 23rd took a plane to Moscow, ostensibly under the protection of the Wikileaks organization, with plans to seek asylum in a country with a more open government, potentially Ecuador.
Incidentally, the Uranus/Pluto square (see the sidebar for a description of this planetary cycle) has a big part to play in the disruption by wild card factors (Uranus in Aries) of the state power structures (Pluto in Capricorn) and the revolutionary force of Uranus in Aries battling against any repressive factor is another highlight of this cycle.
The Planet Waves crew sent away for and received a copy of which makes it much easier to do a comprehensive analysis of his chart. This is an extremely significant event and even “Daniel Ellsberg, the man who leaked what became known as the Pentagon Papers, said today on CNN that Mr Snowden had done an “incalculable” service to his country and that his leaks might prevent America from becoming a surveillance state. (.)
Snowden’s chart shows a strong Gemini influence, with not only the Sun in Gemini (at 29 degrees, an important factor we will discuss later); but also a triple or quadruple whammy involving the ascendant (Gemini ascendant, ruled by Mercury, conjoined by Mercury which is in Gemini, ruled by Mercury). […]
(This is one of many articles on the major planetary cycle occurring now between Uranus and Pluto. For more information about this phenomenon please review the short article in the sidebar and browse older articles on this site. )
The entry of Jupiter into Aries back in 2011 led to a string of rebellious acts around the world, not the least of which was the Arab Spring. Jupiter represents confidence and our ability to make grand gestures, and Aries is the sign of individuality, assertiveness, adventure, and courage (Aries, remember, was the god of war). Uranus, planet of revolution, entered Aries in the Spring of 2011. the image of joyful revolution in Egypt and elsewhere led to the overthrow of the Egyptian president and uprisings in Tunisia, Libya, Syria, and numerous other smaller skirmishes across the Middle East.
Two years later, several of these uprisings have turned into full scale civil wars as it becomes evident that the repressive dictatorships in these countries since the fall of the Ottoman Empire may have been the only thing keeping ethnic and religious factions from continual sectarian violence. We saw this in Iraq where the removal of Saddam Hussein left a vacuum of control, the result of which has been continuous civil war between the Sunni and Shiite sects in Iraq.
This eruption of long simmering resentments into open violence has spread into Syria and Lebanon and recent clashes in Nigeria and Egypt have resulted in fears of a major meltdown throughout the middle East.
Uranus in Aries is the independent force rebelling against the control of authority as represented by Pluto in Capricorn. With this cycle continuing into 2015 we are not likely to see a cessation of the violence any time soon.
Everywhere you turn these days the discussion is about guns.
Guns are not a new topic for discussion, but the feverish frenzy over which gun rights advocates are protecting their rights to own assault weapons and other types of weapons meant for mass killings is rather recent.
There is no nation like the United States in terms of gun ownership. The (Sibly) chart of the United States has Sagittarius rising, which echoes the expansive philosophies that have always drove the country towards constant expansion and religious ideals, both Sagittarian concepts. We normally would look towards Mars for signs of warfare like behavior, but in the US chart the passion for guns is found in the placement of Pluto in the second house. This fanatacisim about guns originates not in an aggressive desire to assert force (Mars) but in a hunger for freedom (Sagittarius ascendant) and a relentless (Pluto) drive to accumulate masses of money through manipulation of the nation’s ideals (second house).
American gun lovers don’t want to accumulate stockpiles of weapons to kill their neighbors. They want these weapons because they believe that it will protect that Sagittarius rising freedom. It doesn’t hurt that Uranus (planet of liberation from oppression) conjoins both Venus (partners) and Mars (aggression) in the chart. That Uranus/Mars conjunction especially denotes a radical desire for liberty at all costs. Americans own twice as many guns as any other country, per capita.
That’s where Pluto in the second house enters the picture, in the form of the National Rifle Association. The NRA spent $15 million in the 2012 presidential campaign, using a fearmongering campaign promoting the idea that Obama planned to take away gun rights (he wasn’t). This same organization used the school shooting in Newtown […]
First let me say that after living in North Carolina for many years I always take the hysteria over hurricane predictions with a grain of salt. Predictive models have improved over the years, but like human behavior, nature has a way of being unpredictable.
That said, it appears fairly certain that the big storm heading towards the Atlantic coast over the next couple of days will bring widespread power outages and communication breakdowns. As I wrote this summer:
In addition, Mercury stations retrograde on the day of the election which suggests that once again the results of the election will be unclear. Mercury stationed direct (meaning it had already been retrograde and then came to a standstill the day of the election before traveling forward again) on the day of the 2000 election which was hung up by voting machine failures and hanging chads. During this 2012 election Mercury will be preparing to retrograde and go back over old issues and questions just as the election begins. Mercury will be in Sagittarius which is associated with the entertainment industry and the court system, which suggests that once again election results could go back to court. Mercury will be in a square to Neptune for a week or so before and after the election, indicating not only confusion over election localities and voter registration, but also suspected fraud and illegal wranglings.
This hurricane will combine with a cold front to bring snow and high winds that can knock down trees and power lines. After a major storm it can take over a week to bring power to rural areas. After Hurricane Fran we were out of power for over two weeks in our neck of the […]
