Hearing Voices: “auditory hallucinations” or multidimensional communication?

have discovered that more than 20% of children ages 11-13 reported hearing voices.  The study showed that these “auditory hallucinations” stop as they get older and only 7% of older adolescents (aged 13-16) continue to hear voices. It does not appear that the study looked at younger children, who often retain the ability to remember past lives and “see” through the dimensional wall to their “imaginary” friends.

The study also reports that nearly 80% of the teenagers who did continue to hear voices also had a psychiatric disorder, although I couldn’t find details about this in any of the news reports.

The planet Uranus is associated with radical experiences of all kinds, but it also has a connection to multidimensional experiences.  Uranus rules electricity and electromagnetic energy, and our human energy grid is electromagnetic in nature.  I personally believe that human consciousness began to change in the late 1700s when Uranus was discovered, and that every major cycle involving the planet Uranus opens more energetic doorways of human awareness.  This was especially true during the conjunction of Uranus and Neptune in the early 1990s, and there is no doubt that children born since this time have been more sensitive and unique than any other generation before them.

I wrote about the “hearing voices” phenomenon back in 2010, quoting a New reporting that since the early 1990s (when Uranus conjoined Neptune) a growing number of researchers have been examining the phenomenon of voices in our heads.  That conjunction of Uranus and Neptune linked the electromagnetic expansion of Uranus with the transcendent experiences of Neptune, resulting in lots of self-delusion but also the growth of personal spirituality (as opposed to religion and dogma).  The Uranus/Neptune idea that we can communicate with spirit guides and guardian angels accelerated during this period, and this whole concept is grounded in the fact that we do in fact hear those voices in our heads.

Astrologers are not like psychic readers in that we read the birthchart rather than pull information from the ethers, but about 10 years into my astrological career I began to hear voices in my head when I was doing a reading.  I tried to ignore those voices, but when I began telling the clients what I was hearing I started getting powerful feedback.  Often I didn’t even understand what I was given, but the client always did.  I’m embarrassed to say that nearly 20 years later I still don’t trust those voices 100% despite the fact that they are always accurate.

Listening to voices across dimensions isn’t always a benign experience.  Many mass murderers have also heard voices whose messages were not so positive.  But I personally feel that branding these experiences as psychotic breakdowns without further investigation does a profound disservice to the affected children for whom it is possible that real magic and awakening is occurring.

According to Wikipedia, The Hearing Voices Movement began in 1987 with the work of Marius Romme and Sandra Escher.  1987 was the year of the Harmonic Convergence during which eight planets were aligned in a Grand Trine and Grand Sextile.

Because we live in a physical world, the inability to separate any kind of transcendent experience from a material experience is, if not a disorder, problematic.  We have to be able to attend to our jobs without being taken down a path by the faeries, and we can’t become so ungrounded that we can no longer attend to our daily needs.  This is the basic premise of the Virgo/Pisces polarity: the balance between the details of our material world (Virgo) and the transcendence of spiritual experience (Pisces).

Still, any discussion of mental illness necessitates the examination of the possibility that there is an element of consciousness present, instead of looking solely as an aberration as being some kind of disorder.

Excellent post, Lynn. Thank you! The times I’ve heard “voices” it was very helpful. For example, when my condo was on the market 10 days at the height of the market with no showings, I asked the Universe what I could do to sell. I heard very clearly, “Start packing.” That was all. I did that night and the next day I had a serious buyer. When you sincerely ask the Universe, or Uranus, for guidance you will get it. Sometimes it comes as a visual (such as a license plate that says GOHOME) or an audio. And sometimes you just “know”. I have Uranus in the 12th house and I like what he does for me there!

I relate to this very much, but not as an actual “voice”, but more of an impulsive “nudge”! Nothing to fear but fear itself! The worst that can happen is 20/20 hindsight that follows us around our whole lives (should-a, could-a, would-a) …. HUGS…..

Thank you for having the courage for speaking about this, including your own admission. My brother and I were both blessed/cursed with this gift, and we are Irish. He told people and was labelled schizophrenic. I kept it to myself and must use discernment when discussing it with people. I recently read that Mercury/Neptune is the signature for this (I have them conjunct). The astrology community apparently recognizes it as Divine Messenger while the medical astrology community recognizes it as schizophrenia. I also agree that Uranus is in there somewhere too, as epilepsy (mild to severe) seems to walk hand in hand sometimes (I can’t handle strobe lights or fluorescent bulbs. School was very difficult for me because of the bulbs). Jaimie Sams of the Sacred Paths Cards states: “Shamanism is also the ability to communicate with all Spirits dwelling on all levels of creation. When a person has this ability from an early age it can be severely misunderstood. The natural shaman has usually had one or more major traumas between the ages of one and seven. These traumatic events usually cause a tear in the embryonic ego matrix that destroys the boundaries of the child. The sense of Self and one’s Sacred Space is torn open and the communication between Self and other voices begins. A small child is not able to discern which voices are helpful and which are harmful and therefore may react to the direction of harmful earthbound spirits. In severe cases where the child is constantly abused by adults around him or her, the child may develop schizophrenia or split-personality syndrome. In modern cultures, the treatment of these symptoms is tragic. In tribal cultures the child is taught how to eliminate the bad influences and accept the good voices that will lead to an adulthood as a gifted shaman.”
My brother and I had the trauma-psyche-split episode when I was 4 and he was 7. I cannot tell you the hell he endured throughout his lifetime because of the ‘Western treatment’ of the medical profession. If we had been born into indigenous cultures we would have been recognized as powerful leaders. Instead we have been treated as insane weirdos. Every time I watch the movie A Beautiful Mind, I just want to scream “Oh my God, please someone get that man a shaman to help him!!!!!!!!!” But no, he is labelled a mental case and is on drugs to close down the portal that is actually a gift from the Divine, which was instrumental in the discovery of his much sought after ‘Original Thought”. And those drugs are preventing him from having any more incredible experiences of original thought.
I watched a movie not long ago that I will remember for the rest of my life as it portrayed this subject very beautifully – See Grace Fly. I would suggest that anyone who has this ‘phenomena’ touch their lives, either themselves or friends/family, get this movie. I think often of the multitudes of people on this planet who are either locked up or not, shut down with drugs and ridiculed because of this. Complete ignorance of the Unknown.
I am at present dealing with a therapist as I experience menopause. One of my lifelong symptoms is depression. It is directly linked to the fact that I have had to hide who I truly am from the world. Is she open to this? No. I tested the ground at our last meeting and it didn’t go well at all. I was categorized immediately. I have said often that I feel like an orange in a world of apples. I have been hoping that Neptune’s return home will be pivotal in allowing the apples to link to the right side of their brains. I really do believe that a lot of therapists will be receiving many people who will be overwhelmed when they first start experiencing this gift. And it truly saddens me as to what their first reactions will be until, of course, the therapists start having these experiences themselves.

Mandy, thank you for sharing this touching and illuminating story. I think we are starting to see the cracks in the veneer of the mental health system that will start letting the light in and allow for individual variations on behavior as being varying expressions of normalcy.

I have never experienced this phenomenon myself, but I offer my empathy to those who have posted here (including Lynn). I can be labelled as eccentric, with my Uranus square to Sun, Moon, Saturn, and Neptune. It’s hard fitting in when you are watching Oz in color, and the rest of the world sees in Kansas’ black-and-white.

    Cheers to all,
    Greg

I am a therapist (LCSW) and trained 3 years in shamanic practice and then more deeply in other practices like Kabbalah, Hermetic studies, geomancy, etc. I work at a community mental health center so I need to keep my practice there to therapy, though it isn’t as rigidly defined as for some folks who don’t have the esoteric interests that I do. I do seem to attract clients that find it a safe place to talk about voices–I need to really tease out what people mean when they talk about voices. If the voices command one to do harm, there’s a problem–then it takes some doing to figure out what to do next. IMO, angelic communications or one’s HGA will only act in one’s greatest and highest good, no exceptions. I have worked with folks in the religious life who hear God’s voice or their HGA and are quite at ease with it, as well as folks who are mediums or psychics or sensitives. I’ve had strong impulses and communication at times from the deceased loved ones of clients… one client was tearful yet comforted when I told her what was in my mind from them and another was very upset and didn’t like it. Both of the individuals who communicated with me (with a symbol) had sudden deaths, one due to a health issue and one murdered. I’m pretty sure I would not share such info again in therapy–it was not what the client expected or came in for, though I think it was the right thing to do at the time. Right now, I am not doing spiritual counseling on the side, though I have considered it…just not sure what it would look like, since I would want to do so online and not in the community where I live and work–might not go over too well with my job. MandyM, sorry to hear you and your brother have been dismissed for your talents and uniqueness. I can understand why being unable to share this with your therapist is disappointing. I agree with your statement that we are seeing more and more folks with a link to other worlds. Maybe there is an open-minded medium in your area wh you can work or train with??
