The astrology of the US Presidential election nomination charts

election prediction 2016

Astrologer has kindly been posting the data for the nomination of the two major presidential candidates in the US election on Facebook.  Donald Trump’s nomination took place July 21, 2016 at 10:19 pm in Cleveland Ohio, and Hillary Clinton’s nomination took place July 28, 2016 at 10:47 pm in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.

The use of an astrological chart for an event is called “mundane astrology” and it is not my particular specialty.  Still, it can provide some helpful insight into the energies behind events and help to increase our understanding.  The chart for the nomination and acceptance of the candidacy IS the chart for the candidacy itself.

The nomination chart for Donald Trump has the first degree Pisces rising which is not a very strong factor in an election chart.  Pisces is about letting go and surrender, it can be magical in the appropriate setting but can also denote confusion and obuscation.  The Sun, at the last degree of Cancer forms not a trine but an awkward quincunx to the Moon which is another message that the machinery behind the candidacy is not working well, with unresolved conflicts and lack of harmony.  The Aquarius Moon has just made a challenging square to Mars which in Scorpio which it rules is at its most powerful, harnessing the aggressive force to be utilized except that the Moon is “void of course” which is a very weak factor in an event chart and suggests that the candidacy will not gain traction and is likely to flounder.

As we have seen, Trump’s personality is driven by the presence of Mars, the god of war, on his spotlight-loving Leo ascendant.  So Mars is very strong in his chart, but his Mars is opposite the Moon in the nomination chart – a challenging placement that could lead to his simply blowing up the candidacy. His Pluto (domination and power) is conjunct Venus in the nomination chart which leads me to predict that his relationships in the campaign (such as VP pick Mike Pence) are likely to blow up as well.

the intervention of a competent astrologer.  Aries is rising at 6 degrees, exactly trine the Leo Sun – a harmony of fire that both energizes and motivates. The Gemini Moon harmonizes with both the Sun and the Aries ascendant, coalescing conversations (Gemini) in productive ways that help to move the campaign forward. A harmonious trine from Uranus (innovation) to Mercury (communication) echoes this theme of positive communication except that aggressive Mars forms a tight square to both Venus and Mercury which could indicate infighting (Mars/Venus) and a great deal of ideological strife both from within the campaign and from outside (Mars/Mercury).

Clinton’s nomination chart works better with her natal chart than Trump’s does, with more positive aspects and fewer stressful ones.

Predicting the future using astrology is a fool’s game, in my ever so humble opinion.  There are so many factors which are unseen and unpredictable, and life itself is nearly impossible to quantify.  However, looking at this factor alone certainly suggests that the Clinton campaign is likely to run more smoothly and undergo fewer difficulties than Trump’s.

Only time will tell, regardless of the outcome the next 100 days till the election and
beyond will be filled with drama and conflict. Both candidates are both admired
and deeply distrusted…….I feel a great deal of uncertainty and concern.

These are interesting times Elaine, we have to somehow find a way to remember that the Universe is always striving for balance and will prevail, in the end.

Thanks very much for this article and thanks also for your link to Shelley Ackerman. My personal vibe is that Trump does not become president. Clinton does. Trump does not “play well with others” and I’m surprised that he hasn’t “fired” Mike Pence already. It would be interesting to see their composite chart.

I think the Trump/Pence dynamic is an interesting one and I will probably take a look at those charts!

Nice! I was waiting to plug the time into my chart last night and thought it looked pretty good (though I know way less than you about mundane astrology). We had been thinking that given how late Obama’s speech started the night before that she might not be on until after 11. Then Chelsea got on right after 10 pm, then the video, then Hillary started speaking but finally accepted at 10:47. You may be right that some astrologer was behind the scenes somewhere because it certainly was auspicious given the planetary transiting positions to work with.

Thanks Lynn! I always love reading your articles and the thoughtful comments of the posters. I know nothing about the mechanics of astrology but it always fascinates me just the same. I remember reading the Astrotabletalk blog where Barry predicted that Trump would win because of the outer planet influence (He correctly predicted this with Obama’s 2012 victory). Who knows really but whoever wins there are certain to be more lessons for the collective. Of course the thought of a Trump victory makes me shudder but because politics are so mired by money and real control is given to the few I have checked out because my trust in all government processes has been deflated. I hope when Pluto nears its end in Capricorn we will become transformed for the greater good and less likely to worship the All Mighty Dollar.

I did go back and look at Barry’s blog. He believes that the candidate with the most charisma will win. I believe that Trump will detonate – neither candidate is ideal and I think as a global society we are a long way from the Utopian world in which human life has more value than the dollar.

I always enjoy your articles, and wish they were more frequent. But it would be great if you could also post the charts! thx

Thanks for the compliment, and I will likely be writing more. I will go ahead and post those charts, you’re probably not the only one who would appreciate that.

Does that mean Clinton will win?

Predicting elections is a fool’s game. Astrology provides insight into the landscape of a person, a situation, an event or a problem, but it doesn’t predict the future and anyone who says it does is usually wrong.

I might not, and I am well aware of that. But it does show chances.

    Very Interesting Article .

Kindly Note As per the Birth Details of Donald Trump which I have Seem to Suggest that He Has Started His Jupiter Dasa From April 2016 Onwards . Jupiter is No Way Connected to His 10th House or 7th House .
This Jupiter Generally can Give Him Immense Success in Business for the NExt 16 Years .

Thus I Feel He is Not in Contention and Suggests Very Less Chances of Winning the Election.
