Sunday inspiration: Feeding the Wolf with Eris and Pluto

By |2019-04-14T06:59:46-04:00April 14th, 2019|Inspiration|

Today the Sun aligns with Eris (disruption) which is in a challenging square to both Pluto (destruction/regeneration) and Saturn (tests and challenges), which flank the South Node of the past.  The symbolism of Eris as the goddess who became angry when she didn’t receive a wedding invitation and retaliated by starting the Trojan War was eerily reflected in the fact that the discovery of Eris correlated to the time when a hanging chad changed the fate of US history and ushered in 20 years of war.  You can see that she’s a wild character under which seemingly random incidents change the course of history.

A square (90 degree angle) between two planets generally denotes conflict that requires a crisis in order to find integration between the two planets.  Between 2015 and 2017, Eris made a square formation to Uranus, planet of “shock and awe” and radical change, coinciding with the 2016 presidential election in the US and Brexit among lots of other crazy things across the globe.

The square of Eris to Pluto won’t culminate until January of 2020, the same time when Saturn and Pluto align in Capricorn.  I’ll be writing more about this soon, but for now I will just say that this is not a time of champagne and strawberries, or for getting lost in fantasies of an Aquarian Age of peace and love.  This is a time for truth-telling and building solid foundations for communities that will not be destroyed in a hurricane or tornado.  This is a time for facing difficult truths and finding peace and tranquility in the simplest things.

I found this in the archives, and it seems to me […]

Pallas and gender issues: The astrology of Stephen Beatty

By |2016-10-11T09:47:54-04:00October 11th, 2016|People|

Click chart to enlarge Click chart to enlarge

Actor Warren Beatty recently addressed his transgender son Stephen for the first time, putting Stephen in the headlines and bringing him to my attention.  For some time now I’ve been writing that the emergence of transgendered persons such as Chaz Bono into a more mainstream presence is connected with the transition into the Aquarian age.

Stephen Ira Beatty was born Kathryn Elizabeth, the eldest daughter of Warren Beatty and Annette Benning.  Stephen Ira came out as trans at the age of 14, which astrologically is the time when transiting SSaturn opposes Saturn in the natal chart and often sets off a sort of identity crisis or challenge.  Stephen Ira has become an active spokesperson for the transgender community and apparently identifies as a man with feminine traits rather than a straight man.  News reports from 2012 suggest that he hesitated before completing the transition surgery because he didn’t want to give up his feminine side.

Beatty’s astrological chart is fascinating.  His Capricorn Sun gives him a desire to work hard and find success, but it is in a tight conjunction to Neptune (blurring the boundaries) which often confuses the identity when aligned with the Sun (Self) and to Uranus (shattering paradigms), the planetary ruler of the Aquarian age.  This Solar conjunction enjoys a harmonious trine from Jupiter (confidence) which no doubt has helped him to traverse the difficult waters of his complicated personal identity.

There is an indication of emotional pain in a stressful oppoStephen Beattysition between Saturn (tests and challenges) to Chiron (wounding and healing) that denotes an individual with a more intense level of emotional wounds that others […]

A reader asks, “When will we know peace in the world?”

By |2018-06-11T11:54:39-04:00July 16th, 2016|Consciousness, Life|

I received this in my email today:

I should think that every published astrologer would be writing about a time when all of these horrid transits and conjunctions will end. Or will they ever? Yet, I have scoured The Mountain Astrologer, online astro sites and subscribe to anyone who might talk about such events. It’s hard to keep a positive attitude when each new year seems to be nothing but another annus horribilus. When will we know peace in the world? When will all of this stress from the heavenly bodies subside? We’re exhausted with it.

I know that many people can relate to this person’s anguish and this has been a very long period of cataclysmic change, beginning in 2008 when Pluto entered Capricorn and continuing through 2017.  That said, according to the :  “Of the past 3,400 years, humans have been entirely at peace for 268 of them, or just 8 percent of recorded history.”

Statistically this is not the worst period of modern human history in terms of the number of political or war deaths as you will see from the table .   However, this does not change the fact that we are living through THIS period, and deeply affected by the trauma and destruction that we see around us.

It’s important to remember that “the stars impel, they do not compel.”  The planetary alignments create an environment which forces an adjustment where change is needed.  If our lives are flowing in harmony and we feel that we are in alignment with our soul purpose, difficult planetary aspects do not necessarily create terrible events.  But the Universe is always striving for balance, and whether in our psyche, our personal lives, or our national […]

David Bowie, magical changeling, rest in peace

By |2018-11-25T10:22:44-04:00January 13th, 2016|People|

12512527_1261792600501410_721398437553426693_nart found on Facebook .  It’s hard to believe he is gone because he seemed immortal, other worldly. He wasn’t really of this earth and seemed to slide in and out of a kaleidoscope of personalities. He awakened our imaginations and expanded our consciousness in peculiar ways that no one else had done before, nor has since.  While I wasn’t particularly a fan of David Bowie’s music, I found him irresistibly fascinating and certainly a harbinger of the Aquarian Age to come.

David Bowie was born David Robert Jones on January 8, 1947 in London England.  According to the source notes at Astro.com his parents provided a birth time of 9 am GMT.  This is fascinating because it places the asteroid Pallas right on the Aquarius ascendant, the point of the chart which describes the persona of the individual.  Pallas is a symbol of androgyny and as I have written before, I find it to be quite prominent in the charts of gender-fluid individuals.

Aquarius itself is ruled by Uranus (modern ruler; the traditional ruler is Saturn).  Uranus instigates radical behavior that revolutionizes the way we view our world.  The instinct for innovation and eccentricity was particularly strong in him as was the desire to continually reinvent himself.

Pluto in Aquarius: The Singularity arrives on schedule

By |2014-07-09T08:20:11-04:00July 9th, 2014|Science|

pluto in aquarius caught my eye:

We will reach the singularity in the timeframe most experts predict. From that point on you’re going to see that the top species will no longer be humans, but machines.”

These are the words of Louis Del Monte, physicist, entrepreneur, and author of .” Del Monte spoke to us over the phone about his thoughts surrounding artificial intelligence and the singularity, an indeterminate point in the future when machine intelligence will outmatch not only your own intelligence, but the world’s combined human intelligence too.

The average estimate for when this will happen is 2040, though Del Monte says it might be as late as 2045. …

“By the end of this century,” he continued, “most of the human race will have become cyborgs [part human, part tech or machine]. The allure will be immortality. Machines will make breakthroughs in medical technology, most of the human race will have more leisure time, and we’ll think we’ve never had it better. The concern I’m raising is that the machines will view us as an unpredictable and dangerous species.”

Del Monte believes machines will become self-conscious and have the capabilities to protect themselves. They “might view us the same way we view harmful insects.” Humans are a species that “is unstable, creates wars, has weapons to wipe out the world twice over, and makes computer viruses.” Hardly an appealing roommate.

Singularity can be defined as “ a point where a measured variable reaches unmeasurable or infinite value.”  The technological singularity has been discussed as the point at which technological (artificial) intelligence exceeds human intelligence.

This concept is nothing new – it has its roots […]

Jupiterian truths and the Age of Pisces

By |2013-08-26T07:20:06-04:00August 26th, 2013|Age of Aquarius, Religion|

As we transition into the Aquarian Age, we are leaving the traits of Pisces behind.  We usually think of Pisces as being Neptune-ruled since Neptune is the modern ruler of Pisces and explains the dreamy and imaginative nature of Pisces.  Neptune is  associated with magic and spirituality, but also with delusion and the negation of the Self - all characteristics of the 2000 year domination of the world by Christianity.

We are the leaders now

By |2013-08-03T07:56:39-04:00August 3rd, 2013|Inspiration|

Tina Malia’s voice and music is expansive and opens the heart and soul to the yearning for awakening and the hope that transformation is truly possible, for the planet and for all people. This video is of the beautiful song Heal this Land.

In “Leading with Vision and Trust”  Warren Bennis writes:

Why did India’s poor march to the sea with Gandhi against the salt tax? Because they trusted him. Trust is based on predictability: trusted leaders make themselves known and make their positions clear. Four leadership qualities together engender trust:

  • Vision
  • Empathy
  • Consistency
  • Integrity

Creating a vision

Leaders manage the dream: they have the capacity to create a compelling, over-arching vision that takes people to a new place.

A vision is a portrait of the future that grabs. Initially it grabs the leader, and then their magnetic intensity and commitment to it draw others in. Leaders love what they do. The passion that comes from knowing what they want, that is demonstrated by their unswerving commitment to a vision, communicates hope and inspiration.

Visions animate, inspire and transform purpose into action. Visions bring about confidence and a belief in others that they are capable of performing to their full potential.

Communicating the vision

Believing in one’s dreams is not enough. Without communication nothing can be realised.

Leadership is a transaction between leaders and followers. Neither could exist without the other. Leaders must understand their followers, and followers must understand those who lead. This interaction creates a unified focus that flows from the communication of a clear, compelling, vivid and exciting image of a desired state of affairs.

Communication creates meaning. Mismanagement of meaning and lack of clarity only lead to evasion of responsibility and guilt.

Leaders must be able to influence and organise meaning, and to focus more on thinking than “facts” or “knowing”, on the […]

Sunday inspiration: Shift happens

By |2018-06-11T11:13:49-04:00April 28th, 2013|Consciousness, Inspiration|

Uranus square Pluto 2011-2015

[There is] the arising of something new in humanity. I sometimes call it the unconditioned consciousness. But it is also a field of stillness, where you see the torn roots of the human mind. Once it emerges, it’s a process that cannot be reversed. It emerges more and more fully, and you become less and less identified with the structure of thought. And then thought is no longer dysfunctional. It is actually beautiful. It can be used for helpful purposes. It’s wonderful—you are no longer looking for an identity in the structure of thought because now you know that who you are is deeper. You are the very awareness prior to thought. You are the stillness that is deeper than thought, much vaster than thought. We call it “stillness” but it’s just a word. We’ve reduced it to something. It’s more than that. It’s consciousness itself, unconditioned. Which is the essence of each human being. It’s that when you meet anybody in a state of open, aware attention, without labeling them mentally or judging them, then that you are already operating as a current or conscious awareness between human beings.

That [will] dramatically change human relationships. When aware presence operates between human beings, they are no longer dominated by mind structures. On a deepest level, that is also love. That is the only dimension from where love can come into this world.

We are in the transition from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius, and this ongoing planetary aspect between Uranus and Pluto is facilitating that process.  As the old ways are destroyed (Pluto in Capricorn) a new and radically different way of looking […]

The astrology of Oscar Pistorius

By |2013-02-21T08:38:59-04:00February 21st, 2013|Crime, People|

Oscar Pistorius astrology The Bionic Man

Oscar Pistorius is in jail right now awaiting trial for the Valentine’s Day shooting of his girlfriend, Veena Steenkampf.  Previously he rose to fame as the first double amputee to win a medal in an able bodied world track event.

Pistorius is a Bionic Man as befits a transhuman athlete in the Aquarian Age – fitted with artificial limbs that some argue give him an unfair advantage over mere mortals.  (See my posts on Transhumanism here.)

Pistorius was profiled in the last year in a piece that described him as “more than a little crazy” – a risk taker who was fearful of intruders and an excellent shot at the firing range.  This fear is captured in a from November: “Nothing like getting home to hear the washing machine on and think it’s an intruder.”

The astrological chart of Pistorius offers interesting clues into his character.  The French website offers a birthtime of 10:30 am on November 22, 1986 (source: email from family member) which indicates Aquarius rising.  Aquarius is the sign of detachment and reason, technology and innovation.  We can’t be 100% sure of this birthtime, of course, but an Aquarius ascendant is  the perfect mask for a Transhuman-type athlete; someone who seeks to shatter the paradigms of what is possible for human beings to accomplish.

His Sun is at the very last degree of Scorpio, often called the “critical” or “anaretic” degree.  In medieval astrology the “anareta” was a planet of destruction.  While modern astrology doesn’t take these significators literally, the 29th degree indicates a completion of some kind of karma and needs to be taken seriously.  The Sun is on the Scorpio/Sagittarius […]

Musings on planetary discovery and human consciousness

By |2012-11-26T06:51:23-04:00November 26th, 2012|Astrology, Consciousness|

While there is relatively little planetary action in the sky I thought I would take a moment to share some thoughts on this topic which is of great interest to me. For several thousand years, astrologers of all nations and cultures used only the visible planets and luminaries to cast horoscopes and predict the future.  Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn – these were the basic elements of the horoscope (remember, a horoscope is the actual map of the sky at a given moment, not the daily forecasts you read in the newspaper). The ancient Greeks and Romans used a series of “lots” to add more detail to the charts, and after the fall of the Roman Empire when knowledge moved eastward, Arab astrologers continued their use and these chart factors became known as  the “Arabic parts.”  There are close to 100 of these “parts,” or “lots” and the most commonly one used today is the “Part of Fortune.”  These points are derived from a mathematical calculation between three chart points, often including the ascendant.  They are predictive in nature and reinforces the idea that the birthchart describes the fate of the individual. Astrology, of course, was used primarily to determine one’s fate and predict the future.  The belief that the human experience was an evolving process and that the individual held the key to his or her own transformation would have been a completely foreign concept. In modern astrology, the traditional planets described above represent aspects of the personality.  I will discuss my views on the Sun and Moon  and the relationship to the soul in another article, but for now let’s think of the Sun as being the conscious mind and the Moon […]
