Sunday inspiration for Mars direct: Becoming a soul warrior

Oya, the Warrior Goddess, by

Mars turns direct next week and is stationary now and quite strong.  Mars represents the inner warrior – our courage and ability to defend ourselves.

Once there was a young warrior. Her teacher told her that she had to do battle with fear.

She didn’t want to do that. It seemed too aggressive; it was scary; it seemed unfriendly. But the teacher said she had to do it and gave her the instructions for the battle.

The day arrived. The student warrior stood on one side, and fear stood on the other. The warrior was feeling very small, and fear was looking big and wrathful. They both had their weapons.

The young warrior roused herself and went toward fear, prostrated three times, and asked, “May I have permission to go into battle with you?” Fear said, “Thank you for showing me so much respect that you ask permission.”

Then the young warrior said, “How can I defeat you?” Fear replied, “My weapons are that I talk fast, and I get very close to your face. Then you get completely unnerved, and you do whatever I say. If you don’t do what I tell you, I have no power. You can listen to me, and you can have respect for me. You can even be convinced by me. But if you don’t do what I say, I have no power.”

In that way, the student warrior learned how to defeat fear.

This is a nice story, Lynn. My writing research has made me aware of the pantheon of warrior goddesses and other female deities celebrated or worshipped in many parts of the world through all the ages. The concept of a Mother Goddess appeals to me more than the Western, Judeo-Christian, testosterone-filled, fire-and-brimstone smiting types.

Oops. I guess Easter Sunday is a bad time to talk about this. 🙁

    Well then…Happy Easter. Never mind.

    Hi Lynn

As we move closer to the Uranus/Pluto square on the 24th , am I right in saying that things will get more “intense” and voilatile by the day we get closer to this date where it turns out to be exact?

Reading on lots of sites that this time could turn out to be total chaos by this summer 2012.

Hi Carlos – it’s fair to say that things WILL continue to be more intense as we get closer to the exact square between Uranus and Pluto. But to say this will bring total chaos isn’t helpful or probably accurate. This transit is working on any areas of human existence which are stuck in the past and need facilitation to create change. That’s true in our personal lives and in the global realm as well.
