Autism therapy in the Aquarian age

15423320_sThere is no doubt that we  are heading into the Age of Aquarius.   Estimates for the new age range from  sometime between 2060 (Dane Rudhyar) and 2800 (Rob Hand), but a 2160 year cycle does not happen overnight.  There is a transition phase and I personally believe that we are in that phase.

I have written a great deal about autism in these pages, and it is my feeling that the wide spread of children born in the autism spectrum is a signal that as humans we are mutating to adapt to the new energy of the new age.

Aquarius is the sign of technology and transpersonal detachment, so it is not surprising to see that there is a trend towards :

[T]here is increasing evidence that kids with autism respond more naturally to machines than they do to people. Psychologist Simon Baron-Cohen, the director of the Autism Research Center at the University of Cambridge in England, along with other autism experts, believes that robots, computers and electronic gadgets may be appealing because they are predictable, unlike people. You can pretty much guess what a computer is going to do next about 90 percent of the time, but human interactions obey very few entirely predictable laws. And this, Baron-Cohen explains, is difficult for children with autism. “They find unlawful situations toxic,” he says. “They can’t cope. So they turn away from people and turn to the world of objects.”

This is a distinctly Aquarian idea that disconnects intelligence from emotion and feelings, and a suggestion for what the coming age might bring.  In fact, many have written about a “technological singularity” in which there will be no distinction between humans and machines.  We […]

“Electromagnetic effects on consciousness”

Transformation 2012If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you know that I believe that humans are mutating as we move through the portal into the Aquarian Age, and I suspect that the flood of autistic children that are incarnating now are part of that mutation.  (Here’s a link to other articles along these lines.)

Evidently I am not alone in this belief as you’ll read in this well thought-out essay by Dieter Broers:

I am convinced that we are currently in the midst of a process involving the restructuring of our neuronal networks, and that the catalyst of this process is the high solar-geomagnetic activity whose consequences are feared by so many people today.  However, all facts and findings add up to the undeniable conclusion that this evolution will for the first time in human history enable us human beings to use the enormous potential of our brains. …

Some years ago I was part of a research team that measured the brain waves of test subjects at regular intervals via EEG. We found that specific electromagnetic fields sporadically acted on the test subjects’ brains, without their being aware of this phenomenon. One of our most striking findings was that the test subjects’ brain waves could be altered via exposure of the brain to electromagnetic waves; and as if this weren’t astonishing enough, we also found that we could even control the test subjects’ brain waves using these fields. For example, the EEG frequency of a test subject with a predominant baseline frequency of 10 hertz could be increased to 12 hertz each time we exposed the subject to an exogenous 10 hertz electromagnetic field that was then increased to 12 hertz. We concluded from this […]

Autism: A disorder or new breed of transhuman?

For some time know I have suspected that the growing incidence of autism spectrum disorders is evidence that the human species is mutating in preparation for the Aquarian Age.  Aquarius is the sign of innovation and radical departure from the known and the ordinary, and it also represents the realm of reason and the transpersonal.  Mr. Spock in Star Trek was the quintessential Aquarian personality, and President Obama, with Aquarius rising, is known for his Spock-like detachment and reason.  (Something that’s getting him in trouble now, but that’s another story…)

Now certain genetic traits in autistic people that differ from genetic activity in people without autism.

The scientists compared the DNA of almost 1,000 people with autism with DNA from almost 1,300 people who do not have the disorder. The findings, described Wednesday in the journal Nature, show that the collection of developmental disabilities known as autism spectrum disorder involve dozens of genes and numerous combinations of rare mutations – so many that patients may each have a unique form [emphasis added].

I’ve written quite a bit about autism over the years and this concept of human mutation, and it appears that science is now catching up with speculative research.  Many people with autism have exceptional skills (rent the recent HBO film on Temple Grandin, it’s quite amazing), as in the case of autistic savants.

This is not universally true, of course, and the lives of autistic children or adults and their families are often filled with stress and despair.  But whether humans are mutating as the result of environmental forces or to adapt to a New Age of human experience, treating this sort […]

More on the transhuman: Autism and savant skills

Thanks to Rich for  to an article that confirms what has only been hinted before: that many people with autism possess skills not found in the general population:

Savant-like skills, such as astounding memory, perfect pitch or the ability to multiply very high numbers together, may be much more common among people with autism than previously thought.

A new study of about 100 adults with autism shows that one third have skills that stand out, both in comparison with their other abilities and with the skills of the general population. Previous studies put the prevalence of savantism in autistic people as around 1 in 10.

“People often focus on the things people with autism can’t do,” says Patricia Howlin of the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College in London, who led the study. “One of the things our study illustrates is that these are people who do have special skills but they are not being used.”

This is a topic of particular fascination to me, and I have for a long time speculated on the connection between autism and the development of a new breed of humans.

One-third of the population is not a hugely significant number, but I think what is more significant is that researchers are beginning to look for positive aspects to the autism phenomenon.  I predict that with more and more research like this, we may discover that the human brain is in fact evolving and changing, and that rather than a disorder, autism is a new modality of consciousness.

Autism and the incarnation process

Sorry to be a bit stuck on this topic, but I found this while researching the astrology/autism connection and thought this might interest my readers.  It’s from an article written in 2000 by astrologer Sandra Weidner:

We are all incarnated. Any one who has looked upon the body of a deceased loved one–unless too shattered from grief to see–has the clear sensation, “he/she is no longer in this.” We are Life which has assumed material form in order to enter a material world. For a time. For certain purposes. The spiritual is never as limited as the material. To come here, we have to take on limitations. For one, a body is required. It represents one part of our admission ticket. The other is formed by our group as well as individual reasons for coming….

So, yes, we are all incarnated. Some of us, however, are more incarnated than others. Our physical bodies make it appear we are all equally here. We are not. Autistic children are one of the groups of people who are less here. Their physical bodies are here; their identities are considerably somewhere else. Most families of autistic children already know that. They just cannot explain why. Here, using this universal language of creation–astrology–it becomes understandable. …

Here’s where it gets really interesting:

I borrow from the work of Jungian psychologist, Erich Neuman. It is from his book, The Child:

The young of the higher mammals are born in a state of relative maturity; either immediately or shortly after birth they are small adults which not only wholly resemble adult animals but are also capable of living unaided. In order to attain a similar state of maturity the human embryo would require a pregnancy of from twenty to twenty-two months. In other words, the human child, after the […]
