The US has an illness, and this election is the symptom

An explicit recording of Donald Trump’s misogynistic sexual harassment was just released last night, threatening to torpedo the halfhearted support of Trump’s Republican colleagues while creating very little stir among his passionate supporters.

Portions of this article appeared in earlier posts. The Sagittarius ascendant in the US chart reflects the expansive tendency of the American empire which is probably the single thing that will be its undoing.  Like other empires before it, the expansion of the national identity (Sagittarius ascendant) through ideas like “Manifest Destiny” which inspired pioneers to trek across the undeveloped terrain and do battle with the native peoples and Mexicans and Canadians who were already living on the land. . . .

Since Pluto entered the contracting sign of Capricorn, however, the cracks in the foundation have become more evident. Pluto deals with issues of compulsion and use and misuse of power, and in the US chart Pluto lives in the second house of money.  You can read more about that here, but the hunger for money and resources combined with the relentless urge to continually expand the national identity (Sagittarius rising) is not a good combination for a sound economic policy.

Since 2014 Pluto has been no more than two degrees from an exact opposition (stressful aspect) to the Sun in the US chart.  (Geeky astrological detail: because Saturn squares the US Sun, Pluto is also transiting in square to US Saturn which applies even more pressure.) The candidacy of Donald Trump with his openly expressed xenophobia has opened the door to the dark Plutonic realms of the US citizenry.  His campaign rallies have resembled WWE spectacles more than political events.  Racists of all flavors and types feel ennobled to express their views which have long been hidden under a guise of respectability.

This, my friends, is Pluto in action.  Trump didn’t cause this to happen – together with Pluto, he opened the door to the circles of hell and the demons began to emerge from the underground of the US psyche.

The connection between the chart of Donald Trump and the US chart is revealing, especially where the female archetype (the Moon) is concerned.  Trump’s Mars (aggressive machismo)  is exactly opposite the US Moon, and the US Mars is exactly conjunct Trump’s Sun (Self) opposite Trump’s Moon (which you may remember is a Full Moon and an eclipse and thus already highly charged with emotional intensity).  This dynamic is explosive and keeps things stirred up as we have certainly seen in this election cycle.

The release of this tape occurs just as Saturn (tests and challenges) makes its final pass over the US Ascendant (the way the nation appears to the rest of the world).  In addition, transiting Jupiter (news media, expansion, aggrandizement) has just formed a challenging square to Jupiter in the US chart – a planetary transit that is often associated with reckless behavior and ignorance.

The comments made in this newly released tape were made in 2005 during a series of dramatic planetary cycles to Trump’s chart including a transit of Pluto (compulsion and destruction) opposite Trump’s Sun, his second Saturn Return, a time when we have to face the fact that we are heading into the Third Age of life, and his progressed Moon (emotions) opposite his natal Pluto (obsession).

No one should be surprised by these comments – Trump has been saying these things publicly (though less explicitly) for years.  I’m sure there are many men who wish they could be in Trump’s shoes, and many of us over the age of 40 remember being treated in just the manner that Trump brags about.

The next eight years will be a critical time in US history as transiting Pluto (destruction and regeneration) completes its opposition to the US Sun and approaches the US Pluto return in 2022-2023.  This difficult time will be followed by some major harmonious planetary cycles which will hopefully set the country back on track.  In the meantime, the darkness will continue to erupt into the American psyche until it can be eradicated once and for all.

Please remember this is an astrology blog.  While I welcome all views to participate, now that all sides have been represented any comments that don’t add value to the discussion will be moderated.  Apologies in advance!

I couldn’t agree more, Lynn. I too experienced Trump’s type of idiocy firsthand. Riding out the Pluto inspired catharsis of this county over the next few years is going to be eye opening.

On a personal note, I have been enduring Pluto squaring my Libra Moon for what seems like forever but the end is in sight with the last exact pass later this month. Can’t wait! 🙂

Congrats Diane for making it through! Pluto starts squaring my Saturn/Sun In February, I can’t wait. 😳

Lynn, I always appreciate and follow your posts because of your great knowledge and searing insight. IMO, Trump is the scariest potential leader since Hitler. On a personal note, DT and I were born four days apart! (I’m the elder. 🙂)

But whereas he is all about mistrust, misogyny, bigotry, fear, and hatred, I choose to be and am the polar opposite. I believe that leaning toward Light or Darkness is a conscious choice we make, using the material indicated by our astrological charts, since no sign or aspect between planets is inherently good or evil but rather a scale of choices.

    I’m interested in your thoughts.

      Hi Leigh,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. First, we could find others with the exact same chart as Trump who expressed the chart dynamic differently. Also, even four days makes a big difference with the Moon placement, and since some of what drives his overblown personality is the Full Moon eclipse in the chart, anyone born even a few hours earlier or later would not have that dynamic present in the chart.

Good luck managing Pluto squaring your Sun-Saturn! I have another seven/eight years before that one. LOL

Truly found this article to be insightful and spot on! Pluto is an efficient force and I am looking forward to its positive healing and transformation of the collective consciousness of the US population. We are on the path toward enlightenment…. But there is much work to be done. Saturn will help us with that!

Thank you for your wonderful work!

Trump is having a basic transit of Saturn oppose his sun. Any loose ends that he has is his life are bound to show up now. Gemini and Sag are expressive signs. His inappropriate self expression or let’s just call it what it is,behavior, is now flashing in his face.

Astrology aside, I don’t believe that Trump has ever been in a position where he needs to watch his Gemini mouth, freely saying exactly what he thinks, with little or no filter. He has been in a position of power and people have had to tolerate his rudeness, and disrespect (not just sexual harassment). Now he is in a position where he needs to win the favor of others and is now being accountable (Saturn) for his behavior. A little humility and self restraint would do him well. What a typical Saturn lesson.

And Steve, I think you are right about the $ thing.

If Trump is the symptom, Clinton is the disease.

    • Sara October 9, 2016 at 9:35 pm - Reply

Agreed with above poster about Clinton being the disease. I’m a woman and I find the prospect of Hillary Clinton as president scary. I wish the media and people would deal with real issues that plague our country, instead of the smoke and mirrors that distract us like the recent attack by the liberal media. I’m also a member of a minority group and educated, but that’s not how the press would label me as a Trump supporter. Hillary is a career criminal, has broken the law and should be in jail right now. Anyone else without her power would be sitting in a jail cell. I enjoy and read almost all the blog posts on this site, but this particular post is off base. Also since when did vetting immigrants before they come into the country or having secure borders become xenophobia? I call that having common sense. There is a legal process for immigration and that is what people should follow.

I probably should have titled this post “this election is the symptom” because never in the history of the country have we had two worse candidates to choose from. The point of the article though is that this is merely a symptom of the underlying problems of the national psyche, and the astrological connections.

        • Mary October 11, 2016 at 11:21 pm - Reply

Exactly. The choice is between a man with outrageous vulgarity and uncontrolled impulse, against a woman who is the embodiment of rampant corruption and lawlessness. Either one represents consequences that will entail devastation of one sort or another.

Did you leave out any astrology for HRC on purpose? Do you think Trump will win? As far as bashing her, I have this comment: Hillary Clinton has been working for women’s welfare for decades, and she got children covered for health insurance when she was first lady. She advocates for early childhood education, which as an educator myself I know that is paramount to a child getting to read and opening the keys to opportunity. While her efforts to raise minimum wage and have a jobs program for infrastructure may not be enough to stem the transfer of money to the rich started by Reagan, it’s more than Trump, whose bankruptcies left creditors and contractors holding the bag; he committed fraud, called for violence at his rallies, makes misogynist remarks, and mocks handicapped people. If you consider the two candidates by listening to their speeches, and what values they are endorsing, I think the choice is clear. Trump is a fascist who says he admires Saddam Hussein, who admired Hitler. How can you not vote against Trump? Hillary Clinton isn’t perfect, but she’s way better than Trump.

          • November 1, 2016 at 10:56 am

I have written about HRC in previous articles. My intent in writing about current politics is to focus on the astrology rather than individual personalities although I admit I often fail miserably at maintaining impartiality.

Thank you ! I’m always amazed at the false equivalency that people express regarding the two candidates. Mostly, I believe they are just parroting what they are told to believe by the “experts” on T.V. or “talk radio”. Sad, really.

    i very much hope so!
wishing a massive mirror-experience for her people so that they can genuinely see themselves and their part in situations with more objectivity/fairness and less knee-jerk spastic emotion.

Thank you, Lynne, for being so candid when you said we have never had two worse candidates to choose from. I am completely astonished at some of my intelligent and insightful friends who still believe that another Clinton presidency will be great for the country. It’s all such an illusion and the media has been so effective at getting people to buy into the superficial promises made by both sides.

And there are many others of us who are even more appalled by the very idea of a Trump presidency. Currently, my family and I are planning to move to Canada.

Lynn, thank you for your thought-provoking posts as always.

Thanks LB. Did you see that the Canada immigration site crashed on election night?

        • LB Lionne November 11, 2016 at 11:19 pm - Reply

          Hi Lynn.

Canada took the website down. At first, I heard it crashed as well, but that turned out to be incorrect.

In deep deep grief about these election results. Feels just like 9/11 after I watched the second tower go down, live on television. Not anywhere near the road to recovery. The sense of betrayal is huge.

Now, we have heard about the hacking cover-up by Russia colluding with Trump. More betrayal. About the FBI withholding this information of a relationship between Russia and Trump. Betrayal again.

I am not an innocent who has illusions about how politics and government work. But this time, the people around me, my fellow Americas were so self-involved that they allowed others to use them as puppets.

          • November 13, 2016 at 12:59 pm

Actually LB, it did crash. I saw the site with my own eyes, and Snopes confirms it:

Hmmm… I must have missed something. What sides were you referring to? I read and understood one side very clearly re: Trump’s character defects, but what other sides were “represented”?

    • April 3, 2017 at 6:34 pm - Reply

My point was that in the comments, a variety of sides was represented. My goal in this blog is not to trash specific individuals but instead to try to provide a backdrop of the astrological influences at work.
