Where the heck have I been, and other musings

saturnA cardinal rule of blogging is to avoid apologizing when posts are few and far between.  But many of you have been with me since I began this blog in 2005, and I apologize for having abandoned those of you who rely on the wisdom of the planets to navigate a world that can often seem chaotic.  I know that this wisdom can be found elsewhere, but I frankly like being a mouthpiece for the planets and enjoy the camaraderie that my readership offers both myself and other seekers along the path.

I have never had a period like the past two weeks where I have been literally unable to write a word.  All of this happened as Saturn turned retrograde in an exact square to my third house Pluto.  Some of you will know that the third house deals with writing and communication, and with my natal Pluto (and Moon) there I not only need (Moon) to communicate, but that need can be pretty compulsive (Pluto) sometimes.  Hence the nearly daily posts over the past eight plus years!  But over the past few weeks I have felt that Saturn contraction like a heavy weight, keeping me from being able to write or communicate.

The past twelve months have been intense, and a part of me is spiritually exhausted.   I believe that in shutting the door to my writing Saturn also required that I spend some time walking my talk and releasing some of the stuck energy that I accumulated during these rough times.  Being Saturn, this involved routine and daily practice: exercise, yoga, meditation – turning within to examine my own role in the challenges that like everyone I face on a daily basis.

I’m starting to feel as though a window is opening and I will soon be able to write again.  I may catch up on the Planetary Illuminations for March, but I make no promises.  At the very least though we will be talking about the Grand Cross and other intense and exciting events coming in April.

I suspect that I am not the only one going through these processes.  Please share your stories and inspiration in the comments!

    Hi Lynn,

I have been concerned about you, as my health has been challenged by this Saturn/Pluto/Mercury square as well, and since we were born only six days apart. I know the writer’s block will eventually subside, but I have been in the same doldrums as you mention here, plus not feeling well physically.

I have reviewed my rather prodigious work from over the last two and a half months, but I just don’t have the energy to push it through to a conclusion. And as a very wise writer and gestalt therapist (Barry Stevens) wrote: “Don’t Push the River, It Flows By Itself.”

I have been more self-reflective, studying my chart and my relationships over my life, with Mars and North Node heading retro over my Sun/Moon/Neptune/Saturn stellium in Libra, so I haven’t been idle, but I’m more reflective than creative for now.

So it’s not just affecting you. Actually, the Full Moon in Virgo today is a turning point for me. It’s in my 10th house, so maybe the next two weeks will bring some good news in my career.

Thanks, Lynn. All the best to you and yours,

Lynn, Take the time you need, When you return, I am sure it will be powerful. Saturn at 23 degrees has retro in my first house which is 23degrees Scorpio. So I feel you Lynn.

Blessings on your deep journey <3

Yes, I love that quote about pushing the river. I always remember my tubing adventures in Colorado which taught me the river carries you along the path of least resistance if only we let it!

I am feeling it too if it extends to paperwork in general. I am a special ed teacher and have been in busiest, stressiest part of my year. SO much paperwork stacked up! I used to have a sign over my desk. ” I love deadlines. I especially love the whooshing sound they make when they go flying by!” That is terribly Piscean of me, isn’t it? Lots of somatic stuff too. It was recently brought to my attention that aches and pains can manifest during periods of growth and change. I can attest to that! Some of the consequences of that growth are also coming to a head for me. I am going to follow your lead and start taking better care of myself. In the mean time I am sending you replenishing light Lynn. I know from my reading that you put your heart and soul into your work. Sounds like you needed some time to put your heart and soul back into you!

    • lokasiwisata.info March 19, 2014 at 7:44 am

Thank you Robin! And you’re right about the aches and pains coming with growth – it has often seemed to me that it’s when I am resisting the movement of energy that I have health issues.

  3. Julie March 16, 2014 at 6:21 pm

Seems to me that you provide a good example of taking care of yourself when you need to and in doing so, you open up some space for your loyal readers to look elsewhere (just for a little while) for their blogging fix. If Saturn is asking you to slow down or stop right now in order to rest, that’s what you need to do. It is our American obsession with always moving, pushing, driving that puts our health and wellness at risk. I always come back to your blog because I enjoy it and a brief break in writing doesn’t change that.!

    • Genevieve March 16, 2014 at 8:01 pm

Well said Julie. Self love and Self care give others permission to do the same. I visit a few different sites (and do my own chart) and this is one of my faves and that won’t change even if there are many months of silence 🙂 I’m glad you’re honouring yourself Lynn, going within and welcoming everything that comes up and that we are is fundamental.

    • lokasiwisata.info March 19, 2014 at 7:45 am

Thanks Julie, I so appreciate this.

  4. Valerie BE March 16, 2014 at 6:44 pm

Lynn, thank you for making time to connect with us despite your exhaustion. It is always so good to hear your blog-voice.

I do not worry about you – just assume you are doing what you need to – but miss your thoughtful posts when they are not available.

That said, the past two weeks have been like getting hit by a train, energetically, and I’d say you are wise to honor the need for downtime! Perhaps it’s because our charts are very similar that it’s manifested this way for me as well. I have felt rudderless and as if I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole or into some parallel dimension. Astrologically the energies have been intense for years, but this is taking it to a whole new level.

I’d been successfully dodging illness at work all winter, but this period nailed me. I too am now focused on self-care, which for me includes contemplation, journaling and time spent in nature.

I’m leery of the upcoming April Grand Cross period. Perhaps this is preparatory and cleansing in some way that will prove beneficial.

    • lokasiwisata.info March 19, 2014 at 7:46 am

Yes – Valerie and I have nearly identical charts so it’s interesting to compare notes. Periods of great introspection, in the rabbit hole, often feel like a big void but when we emerge we realize that we have been transformed somehow.

Thanks for letting us know and indeed it is Saturn the heavy guy! Relax, meditate ad take care during his visit! You will be yourself again soon!

  6. Deb March 16, 2014 at 8:26 pm

I have not analyzed what influences are slowing down my dissertation completion (every doctoral student has her/his story), but something has been “in the air” over my work for about 15 months doing so. When I hear Lynn talk about writer’s block and Robin, her stacks of paper, I share empathy. Perhaps what one of my committee member wrote me can help you in your work “never look at the distant finish line, just keep your eyes a little bit in front. Eventually you will get there if you keep at it and you will wonder how you ever managed to run (type) that far.” I love wise council.

  7. Zane Maser March 19, 2014 at 5:59 pm

I can relate, Lynn. These intense times are sure taking the stuffing out of a lot of us, on all levels! Last June (and on and off since), I was feeling emptied out of all inspiration. I posted a piece on my SunnyCat Astrology blog titled, “Fallowness.” And that about says it all for how I was slogging along, yet these are such purposeful times when we simply need to rest, relax, and rejuvenate inwardly, letting the well fill up from within–in its own beautiful, perfect timing.

Many thanks for your normal, productive output. I am always learning from you.

  8. Dee H March 31, 2014 at 7:00 am

You shine the light for so many so that we can better see the path when we have these times. My light is coming to you and blessing you with comfort and stillness and loving patience for your clarity to return.

We love you and your Visioncrafting wisdom.

    Peace and Love,

Thanks Dee, that is so sweet and kind. 🙂

  9. Elena April 1, 2014 at 4:53 pm

    Hi Lynn,

I am brand new to you and your blog and just got the first one on the Grand Cross phew! Reading your info about inward time and fallow time from Zane, I have just hit this myself in the last week. Having ‘completed’ the task of moving my father to warden-assisted accomodation and a year long project to ‘upgrade’ my parents lives, I can only stay in bed – a kind of flu involving a sore throat and exhaustion, but actually it is righting the balance. I have the Saturn in Scorpio thing going on – SO exhausting, also useful, but the paperwork!! Wills, trusts, contracts, organising house moves, going to a tribunal for my kids education, fighting a ‘Court of Protection’ to allow my dad to sell his house when my mum in a nursing home – wheooo has this been a year and a half to remember! I will see the benefits but right now its down time to right the balance of giving out so much.

    • lokasiwisata.info April 3, 2014 at 11:27 am

Hi Elena, welcome! Yes, Saturn in Scorpio is quite intense and it sounds like you are really doing some deep family roots work as well.

  10. Menega Sabidussi April 1, 2014 at 8:53 pm

    hi Lynn,
Take it easy, take your time. I fell into sudden and total (blogging) muteness at the beginning of the year… it is what a t-Saturn on a Scorp Mercury in 12th will tend to do. Makes it hard to even croak, let alone formulate coherently, so one needs to spare the effort for the really important stuff that needs saying.

    • lokasiwisata.info April 3, 2014 at 11:27 am

Yes – exactly so Menega! Thanks for your comment.

  11. Claudia Di Mele April 2, 2014 at 9:02 am

It is very nice of you to share your recent struggles. As I have told you before I always learn something from your writings. I am just moving away from the Saturn square to my natal moon conjunct pluto in my 8th house, Saturn in my 11th by transit. My recent obsession has been with chocolate and the positive to this square is my obsession over a person I love very much is helping me to let go. I have not been creative at all as I have had no desire. I’m assuming the Grand Square affecting my Mars in Libra conjunct my south node is the reason I have not felt like doing anything………absolutely nothing, a bit of depression too. Like everything else, this too shall pass. I love the silver lining.
Be well and take your time……I will be anxiously waiting your return to read your wonderful articles that I so enjoy!`

    • lokasiwisata.info April 3, 2014 at 11:28 am

Thanks Claudia – lucky for us chocolate is a health food. 🙂 And delving deep gives us an opportunity to spring forward with more energy when the time comes. Just like the spring buds are doing right now!
