There’s a lot of planetary energies during this period, with three planetary bodies changing signs and two changing direction, as well as a Full Moon! Read on for all of the details… (dates refer to the Eastern time zone)
Saturn and Pluto turn retrograde. Towards the end of April both Saturn and Pluto will turn retrograde, meaning their apparent motion as we observe the planets will appear to move backwards. These planetary shifts from retrograde to direct motion mark shifts in direction of focus – the retrograde periods help us to look back into the past and see what is unfinished or what needs to be recreated in order to more fully serve us in the future. Then when a planet turns direct again we are able to make forward strides more effectively. Saturn and Pluto are preparing for that retrograde turn, they are at a virtual standstill and their influence is more powerful – especially if these planets are hitting sensitive points in your own natal chart (between 18 and 25 degrees of Capricorn, Cancer, Libra and Aries). Pluto turns retrograde on April 24th and Saturn turns retrograde on April 29th.
Saturn (tests and challenges) and Pluto (creative destruction) are at their closest point now until they collide in their official conjunction in January of 2020. The combination of these two planets generally denotes a destructive force that can clear the path of any debris that is interfering with the natural movement of the Universe towards balance. This has the potential to be a positive force, but it is also associated with contraction and challenge, especially now since both planets are in the contracting sign of Capricorn. They are aligned with the South Node of the past, denoting that […]
Deviant Art. Today the Sun aligns with Eris (disruption) which is in a challenging square to both Pluto (destruction/regeneration) and Saturn (tests and challenges), which flank the South Node of the past. The symbolism of Eris as the goddess who became angry when she didn’t receive a wedding invitation and retaliated by starting the Trojan War was eerily reflected in the fact that the discovery of Eris correlated to the time when a hanging chad changed the fate of US history and ushered in 20 years of war. You can see that she’s a wild character under which seemingly random incidents change the course of history.
A square (90 degree angle) between two planets generally denotes conflict that requires a crisis in order to find integration between the two planets. Between 2015 and 2017, Eris made a square formation to Uranus, planet of “shock and awe” and radical change, coinciding with the 2016 presidential election in the US and Brexit among lots of other crazy things across the globe.
The square of Eris to Pluto won’t culminate until January of 2020, the same time when Saturn and Pluto align in Capricorn. I’ll be writing more about this soon, but for now I will just say that this is not a time of champagne and strawberries, or for getting lost in fantasies of an Aquarian Age of peace and love. This is a time for truth-telling and building solid foundations for communities that will not be destroyed in a hurricane or tornado. This is a time for facing difficult truths and finding peace and tranquility in the simplest things.
I found this in the archives, and it seems to me […]
I try to stay out of the mud on the internet, which isn’t easy to do when you have a very public blog. But yesterday I listened to a podcast on This American Life that really disturbed me, about the conspiracy theories surrounding the Sandy Hook shooting and the abuse of the parents who lost children in that devastating event. Here’s the link to the podcast if you want to listen, and here is the transcript if you just want to browse.
I have to reveal before I go any further that I am a conspiracy minded person. I believe that there was advance knowledge of 9-11. I was an early adopter of the Kennedy assassination conspiracy theories, way back in the 1980s. I believe that they are hiding something at Area 51. I don’t get flu shots and while not anti-vax, I believe that information about vaccine safety is being withheld by the public. Lots of conspiracy theories that were considered fringe elements at one time have turned out to be true, which makes it difficult to rationalize a lack of suspicion. Cigarettes really do kill you, and manufacturers really did suppress information. MK Ultra really did do mind control experiments on unsuspecting Americans.
But the problem with the rabbit hole of conspiracy is that once you go down it, it’s hard to know where the truth is. When you don’t trust anything you read or hear, everything is suspect.
The abuse that has been piled on the parents of children who have died in school shootings, as well as the survivors of those shootings (such as “the sliming of David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez” from the Parkland […]
Many years ago I posted a link this article by astrologer Victoria Bazely that mirrors my feelings on this issue EXACTLY!! Unfortunately the original article has disappeared, but the truth remains.
I have a pet peeve, and like most pet peeves perhaps, it’s a bit hypocritical. My pet peeve is people who use astrology (or anything else really) to support a life run by fear. I’ve read that Nancy Reagan used to consult an astrologer before her husband did anything and wouldn’t let him do things like sign legislation unless an astrologer gave the okay–which meant he sometimes ended up doing things at odd hours like 1:59 a.m. I don’t know if she actually did this, but just reading about it irritates me. It irritates me because it strikes me as operating out of a combination of fear, dependence, and an excessive need for control. . . .
Life happens, and life includes bad, scary, challenging or even exhilarating twists of fate. You can’t control the entire universe with astrology or anything else. Life happened to Ronald and Nancy Reagan, just as it does to everyone else. His presidency had its challenges and its triumphs, just as other presidencies do. If credit is to be given for the success of his presidency, I’d rather give it to a combination of his character, his ideas, and his willingness to act on them. . . .
It’s the same thing when I hear astrologers say things like “don’t get a haircut or buy shoes when the moon is void of course!” Something in me just says “I’ll buy shoes and get a haircut whenever I darn well please. I can’t live my life running around checking to see whether […]
