How the Christ surpassed Yahweh at the dawn of the Piscean age

yahweh I posted this a few years ago but it’s still my favorite post for this time of year.  Because the earth orbits at a slight tilt, and the tilt of the orbit changes over time, the celestial equator is always moving and the vernal equinox is always moving along the ecliptic, the apparent path of the Sun around the Earth from our perspective.  We call this the “Precession of the Equinoxes,” and that is what we mean when we talk about the Age of Aquarius, the Age of Pisces, etc.

There is no accepted timeline for the transition from one Great Age to another.  The Great Year is approximately 26,000 years and each Age spans approximately 2160 years. However, because cultural changes mark the shift between ages it becomes somewhat easier to define these transitions.

Yahweh, the god of the ancient Hebrews, was a warrior god- Moses says so right in Exodus in the Bible:  “The Lord is a warrior/man of war.”  In Isaiah 42:13 we find this exclamation: “The LORD will march out like a champion, like a warrior he will stir up his zeal; with a shout he will raise the battle cry and will triumph over his enemies.”

There is a great deal of confusion in the Bible over the name of God – both El and YHWH (Yahweh) are used interchangeably.  However, that El was a senior god in Canaan: a beneficent god who presided over creation and ruled over the more junior warrior gods such as Baal and Astarte.  The use of the plural for god in the Bible – “Elohim” – could refer to the family of Canaanite gods that included not only Baal and Astarte but also El’s consort […]

All hail the Cancerian Full Moon at the Winter Solstice!

The astrological Solstice occurs when the Sun enters Capricorn (for my Southern Hemisphere friends this is actually the Summer Solstice).  Solstices and Equinoxes are important energetic gateways having to do with the balance of light and darkness.  At the Winter Solstice, the days are at their shortest and as humans we are pulled inwards into deep soul reflection.

The astrology of the Solstice Full Moon

This year, a Full Moon at zero degrees Cancer marks the entry of the Sun into Capricorn.  The Full Moon is the height of the lunar cycle – the lunar energy of instinct and emotional truth is maximized, and the power fueled by the realm of feelings is at its height.  At the same time, the cycle of darkness and light is at its nadir.  The combination of these two effects opens a portal of energy which we can use to effect powerful change in our own life.  And I believe, in the world around us.

When the Moon is full in Cancer, it opposes the Capricorn Sun, also at zero degrees.  The Cancer/Capricorn polarity asks that we balance the realm of emotion and the inner life of the soul (Cancer) with the world of the trappings of the material world: success, structure, rules and order.  But at the Full Moon the lunar influence is at its most powerful, drawing us more deeply into the inner world of feelings.

The Cancerian Full Moon is packed full of feeling and emotion, and the power of that emotion has the potential to transform your life for good and for ill.  When we harness our emotions to our Will, we create magic.  A little bit of intention can go a long way towards creating a lasting and positive transformation and that […]

The astrology of the 2018 US stock market rollercoaster

If you’ve been reading this blog, you’ll remember that the financial collapse of 2008 coincided with the entry of Pluto, planet of destruction and regeneration, into the contracting sign of Capricorn after spending 13 expansive years in optimistic Sagittarius.

At the end of December 2017, Saturn (tests, challenges and the reality principle) moved into its own sign of Capricorn which tends to make people somewhat cautious and risk-averse.  The first big dip of the year took place between February 1st and 5th under a challenging aspect from Venus to Jupiter.  Venus and Jupiter are known as the two “benefic” planets, even when a challenging aspect between the two occurs, but in this case the overindulgence of Venus and Jupiter was countermanded by the cautious nature of Saturn in Capricorn, causing a pullback in the optimism that tends to cause stock prices to rise.

Stock prices were back up into positive territory between mid-February and mid-March but dropped back into the negative when Mars (action) entered Capricorn and Jupiter (expansion) turned retrograde in the middle of March.  Stock prices remained quite volatile but never really developed any upward traction until the 9th of July when we began to see steady improvement in the markets after Jupiter turned direct.

It’s difficult to make predictions where human nature is concerned, and the stock market is largely a reflection of human reactions to news.  When people are optimistic, they buy into markets (stock market, housing market – whatever market!) which increases prices, and when they are fearful they tend to sell.  Sometimes expansive periods of Jupiter are associated with greater optimism and higher prices, and sometimes we see a peak of prices and then profit-taking which results in lower prices.

At any rate, once Jupiter turned […]

Astrology in my world: How to make a decision

Librans, of which I am one, are famous for not being able to make a decision.  We easily see all sides of a situation, and in a discussion over a point we can convincingly argue for one perspective as well as another.  In my house a conversation like this with my double Pisces husband, who dislikes taking a stand of any kind, is very common:

Me:  What do you think about my doing X?
Rich:  Well, you have always wanted to do it.  Maybe you should do it.
Me:  Yes but then all of these other things might happen.
Rich:  Probably better not to do it.
Me:  You don’t think I should do it?  But I really want to.

You can guess how the rest of it goes.  Pretty much the same until one of us gives up. 😀

In my younger life I was tortured by the idea that there was a right decision and a wrong one for virtually everything, and if I made the wrong decision in the minefield of decisions to be made my life would explode before my very eyes.  I know a lot of other people feel the same way which is why psychics and intuitive readers are in such demand.  The problem is, nobody can make a decision for us or tell us what to do.  We must come to the realization in our own hearts and souls.

In my astrological practice, people often come to me for a reading because they need or want to make a major life decision.  Should I quit my job?  Should I marry this person?  Should I leave my spouse?  Should I move to another location?  Often we see a planetary cycle underlying these questions.  Saturn (tests and challenges) or Pluto (destruction and regeneration)  […]

Sagittarius New Moon December 7th: Begin a new adventure!

Sagittarius New MoonThis New Moon in Sagittarius brings with it an opportunity to begin a new adventure.  The New Moon is a fresh new start – the heart (Moon) unites with the conscious intent (Sun) to forge a new direction, and in Sagittarius the sky is the limit.  Sagittarius governs travel, whether travel of the mind and the heart, or of the body through space and time.  This is a time to expand and seek a new experience that opens up our hearts and souls to greater magic and wonder than we ever dreamed possible.

Sagittarius periods feel lucky, and this one is no exception with Jupiter, the planet of luck and good fortune, tightly aligned with the New Moon, amplifying even more the potential for greater awareness and opportunities.  However, all is not perfectly rosy at this New Moon.  Mars, the planet of aggression and desire, is in the spiritual yet potentially confusing sign of Pisces which can be somewhat challenging to begin with, and it aligns with Neptune as well which is a doubling of the desire for transcendence and perhaps even escapism which can cause confusion.  The combination of Pisces’s yearning to transcend this mundane reality with the Sagittarius pull towards greener pastures can create problems if we fail to keep our feet on the ground.

Geeky astrological detail:  While Pisces and Sagittarius form a natural square and are therefore in conflict with each other, they are also linked by Jupiter which rules both signs.  Using Jupiter as the figurative North Star to guide us is the key to maximizing the potential of the New Moon.

However, this Pisces/Sagittarius influence is not necessarily negative – if it is channeled into creativity or if we absorb ourselves in experiences of […]
